Thank you to the hard-working team at for working so quickly to clear several downed trees and wrap up the damaged playground. PLEASE BE CAREFUL IN THE PARK. There are blocked trails and lots of broken limbs hanging in the trees after Friday’s severe weather. The Forestry Division will continue working in the coming days to remove the large tree blocking the road and the trees on the house. Please keep your distance. 🛝 The county and the playground design team are aware that McCutcheon Park’s play space was destroyed and the replacement process is beginning! Thank you to our neighborhood “Park Guy” Steve for working closely with the Park Authority! Be on the lookout for volunteer work days to help get our community park in ship shape.

Statement from the on the status of the GW Memorial Parkway

An update from Steve Markle, Chair of the Villamay Parks Committee. More to come. Photo is for reference only. Our poor park. 😥. From Steve: “A brief note to provide an update on conditions within Gil McCutcheon Park. As many of you may know, Friday evenings horrific storm impacted Gil McCutcheon Park severely. A large oak tree smashed the playground, fortunately the swing set was untouched, and many other trees were felled in the park. The Park Authority had a work crew Saturday morning. They have cleared most of the wreckage that was the playground but that area should be avoided. I am told that it is caution taped off.”
