A botnet is also known as a "bot herder" and it attacks the whole network of computers. An individual machine under the control of a bot herder is called a bot. The attacking system can command all computers in the botnet to simultaneously carry out organized criminal activity. The size of botnets allows attackers to perform large-scale actions previously not possible with malware. Because the botnet is under the control of remote attackers, infected computers can receive updates and change their behaviors.

Your computer or laptop must have a good antivirus to minimize the damage or mess created by a malware attack. There are some thing that you should keep in mind while having an antivirus software for your system.
1: Virus Scanner & Script Blocking: Basically, the scanner should maintain very high detection and block rates while being lightweight and not weighing down the device.
2: Database of known Malware: Scanning could not be effective if the program doesn't know what it's searching for. So, for this all antivirus software must contain a database of known malware and compares each scanned file against the contents of the database.
3: Update Automatically: The antivirus software must be able to automatically update itself. So, it can work more efficiently.
4: Malware Removal: The antivirus software must be effective enough to remove the malware instead of just detecting and blocking it.

Ransomware is a type of malware attack conducted by cybercriminals. When a computer or network is infected with ransomware, access to the system is blocked or data is hacked. Cybercriminals demand a payment to hand data over to the victim. To protect against ransomware infections, we recommend using monitoring and security softwares. Once infected, the malware attack victim has only three options:
1: Pay the ransom.
2: Try to remove the malware.
3: Reboot the device.

Trojans are the malwares that can corrupt or damage the sensitive data in computer system. These trojans usually spread through legitimate-looking emails and files attached to emails. These malicious softwares end up spamming the inboxes of as many people as possible. Once the email is opened and the malicious attachment is downloaded, a Trojan server is installed and runs automatically every time the infected device is powered on.

A worm virus is a malicious program that replicates itself and spreads automatically throughout the computer system. A worm virus exploits vulnerabilities in security software to steal sensitive information, install backdoors that can be used to access systems, corrupt files, or cause other types of system damages. Worms consume a lot of memory and bandwidth which leads to overload and malfunction of servers, individual systems and networks.
