How we started. Looking into permanent lighting years ago we found a few different types but nobody was doing it locally. We liked JellyFish Lighting over the only other main competitor due to its style, power and quality. Consider it a Coke vs Pepsi choice. Sure, we can drink pepsi, but no way would we choose it if we had the option even if it does cost slightly more.
When we contacted JF they asked us of we wanted to become installers and we said sure. Did our homes and a few friends. Then some more friends and their recommendations. Covid happened and everyone started charging ridiculous prices to hang temporary lights which we find insulting so we started to promote our services more. We've been lucky to meet some great people and every winter we've been busier than the past. Now we look forward to gaining more business throughout the year.
I've met people and have no problem explaining to them how they can diy and save money. It's more hobby style lighting. Then theres the stickers and wires showing lights which looks "fine" at night, though some installs have me shaking my head. There's options to make them look professionally installed, but then the price starts creeping up.

Attached is our resume. I've learned a bit about lights and now I realized that was a great investment for true permanent lighting. Disclaimer, I do run our Christmas display with a different controller but same battery to match all my other lights I add, then go back for easy to control options the rest of the year. The lights themselves look great either way.

Hope everyone had a great Halloween!

For anyone that had issues loading the app yesterday, here's some info

"Thought I'd give you all a little peek behind the curtains and explain some of what's happened to the cloud app/services in the past few months.

On September 18th, some Amazon Web Services (AWS) products we use experienced an outage. The programming on our controllers got confused by that, and they thought they had been deleted from their respective accounts. Thinking that, they deleted some credentials critical to normal operation.
Since then, we have released a new controller version (3.1.12 or 030112 on a controller screen) that prevents this issue from happening again. I recommend you update your controllers to this version. If you choose not to update now, we are releasing an update to the app that will mandate the controller update.

Tonight, October 31st, was caused by all of you! And I mean that in a happy way (as happy as one of these problems can be)! Enough of you opened the app at once that you caused us to hit rate limits set by AWS. We have had those limits raised now and we are going to keep a closer eye on them from now on (though I hope you all force us to raise them even higher)!

JellyFish Lighting typically costs ~$25-30 per foot installed plus $650 for the controller at corporate locations. The price per foot is based on difficulty, location, and time of year. Authorized Dealer’s pricing is independent of corporate pricing and we have been able to beat those prices.

Good news! Like I've told everyone, the app was my least favorite part of the system because of the lack of connectivity away from home; or living room sometimes. No longer. Check your app store for Jellyfish cloud. Updated firmware, created a log in, connected to existing controller and you can connect from anywhere.
It took a couple of log in attempts for the controller to recognize the new app, but now I'm connected

Hello neighbors.

If you don't want to spend a couple of thousand dollars to have someone come and put up lights for you, that will only be up for 1 or 2 months, please look us up at LightenUp DMV . We have generally been 2yrs worth of those quotes and you get lights to use year round. Down lighting, every holiday, watch your favorite sports team lose every year...sorry, I digress.
