I'd like to share a bit of synergy with you. While I've been busy researching and painting Sea Goddesses and Mermaids, Mare Cromwell, of the Great Mother Way, has been busy putting together the "Water Love Day"global ceremony. This is part of the 1000 Goddesses Gathering Global Grids she's been leading since 2015.

On "Water Love Day," held on or near to Sat. Oct 25th, we are asked to come together in our own towns to honor and send love and healing energies to the waters of our beautiful Earth. For folks in ABQ, I'll be facilitating a Water Love Up on Sunday, Oct. 26. Message me if you'd like to participate. Of course this is all free!

These events are based upon a Tibetan prophecy which states that when 1000 Goddesses or Buddhist Taras gather, the Divine Feminine will rebirth through their combined energies, and the tone of our Sacred Planet shall shift from Fear to Compassion.

Visit the website on the image below to find out more. It's time to release our planet from fear and move into love and compassion.

Oh and one last piece of synergy—when I decided to give away a giclee print of Atargatis, Mesopotamian Mermaid Goddess, was when Mare and I first connected. Pretty cool, huh. I'm deep in thoughts about the waters of our Earth as my Print Giveaway continues.

This piece, "Underwater Seed of Life" came about after a trip to the island of Lesvos, where I spent many hours swimming underwater with goggles on and eyes wide open. What a beautiful sight to see!

Continuing with the theme of Sea Goddesses, I’m reminded of the Chinese tale of the baiji, a 20 million-year-old dolphin species in the Yangtze River.

In the story, a beautiful princess refused to marry the man her father, the Emperor, chose. In anger, he threw her into the sea. Nearing death, a River Goddess took pity and transformed her into a baiji dolphin.

After learning what happened, the River Goddess created a storm that sank the Emperor’s ship. With compassion, the Princess/Dolphin saved her father, leading him to repent and start the tradition of protecting baiji dolphins.

The princess became known as the Goddess of the Yangtze, symbolizing peace, prosperity, and protection.

I recently finished this painting of flowers from my garden—zinnias, basket flowers and sunflowers. They have attracted many bees of all types and hummingbirds. The flowers flowed out easily but I struggled with the background in terms of value tone and making the flowers really pop. I'll get it up on my website very soon.

"Mistress of Animals" was inspired by a long day wandering through the exhibits at the N.Y. Metropolitan Museum of Art's Ancient Near Eastern Art collection.

The Master of Animals and its counterpoint, The Mistress of Animals, probably originated in the end of the prehistoric Ubaid period of Mesopotamia, c. 4000 BCE or 6,020 years ago. From there it spread to many parts of the ancient Near East and Egypt.

There is an element of control involved but also protection, including how many animals could be hunted and controlling humane treatment of those sacrificed to human's need for food.

Though long before the Mistress and Master of Animals emerged in human consciousness, Goddess protected the fauna and flora of the natural world.
