We are excited to announce the return of the Southwest’s most iconic Screamo band on 6/27 at With and State of Affairs (first show). Make sure your dancing shoes are ready to go for this one!

It’s been a little over a year since these photos were taken and we’re excited to be back at the launchpad and hope y’all will join us. Knumears just put out a new album that is absolutely my favorite release this year. Dogseesgod will have their new album out by then as well. It’s going to be a night of new things. Come grab the mic, dive off the stage, sing-a-long, make new friends, and say hi.

Our only show in March is on the 11th w/ our El Paso based homies .tx , absolute merciless rippers , .tx , and .nmband ! It’s our first time playing and we’re super hyped to have the opportunity.

We did an interview with .hellahot and a few days ago and they were able to catch us looking like big ol cuties. For those of you who are newer to the page, we’d like to introduce ourselves. Self Neglect has been a band for over 9 years, based in the roots of DIY punk, hardcore and emo music. We have released two albums and are VERY close to announcing a release date for our third album. Our members are (left to right) Derrick - bass, Matt - guitar, Alex - vocals and Leon - drums. Our band has been and always will be about community, so we are greatly honored to be a part of this documentary showing how amazing Albuquerque is! -D

Hey! We hate fascism and love the music community! That should be abundantly clear because I won’t shut the f**k up about it between songs. Some are still surprised somehow and we had someone freak out during a set a few months back and call us “woke bullsh*t” which we unapologetically are.

Tuesday, April 22nd, we are playing with the legendary Vs Self at Launchpad! This show is all-ages, so there’s no reason to skip seeing these screamo masters. Joining us for the evening is CA slowcore band Punxsutawney, so get there on time so you can see all of the bands. There are presales for this show, which we will link to in our stories for the show. Let’s pack out the Launchpad and send a message to DIY musicians all over the country that ABQ is a place that cannot be skipped on their tours and to Launchpad that they should be doing more all-ages shows. Despite the horrors, we persist, and so do you! We have an amazing show for you all Friday the 7th at with genre-defining legend . Our friends in , and are throwing down their own brands of weird screamo too! We’ll have the very last of our first print run of Miserable/Comfortable CDs for sale (very limited numbers) as well as our Gently shirts! We probably won’t repress this album unless a label pays for it, so pick them up while you can!

Let’s meet up on Friday and have the kind of night that can sustain us through dark times.

7 years ago we recorded our first album Justice v Justification at studio mostly live. We were basically a hardcore punk band back then and hadn’t explored our sound as much as we would in the coming years. Every time we’ve gone into the studio we have learned so much and this was no exception. Putting together a body of songs that go together and create an emotional arc for the listener is the type of challenge you chase your whole life and always feel you can do better than you did. Our first attempt was far from perfect but we have an immense appreciation for the people who supported us back then and are amazed by how many of them are still by our side.

Thank you and we hope you’re all with us for the next chapter.

Today is birthday and also the 9 year anniversary of us being a band!

To say Matt is cool is a true statement for a number of reasons. He dresses cool, is cool, and stays cool. Dude is the most preeminently unbothered bloke you’re likely to meet.

It’s been an immense honor to play music with him over most of the last decade and have had the privilege to know him better through all of it. He’s the type of person that would prefer to do the hard or inconvenient thing so that things are easier for others. He tends to stay a bit guarded, but when he does open up around you and you get to see his rich character shine through there’s no doubt that he is an absolute original and a uniquely intuitive artist.

Happy birthday Matt! Happy birthday Self Neglect!
