Explora would like to personally thank Marshall J Brown, local Google Business Review guide, for the wonderful compliments. We can't wait to see you again!

"I love this place! There was so much to see and touch here that I hardly know where to begin. I took our daughter here and was amazed to see just how much reaction I got from her at the many wondrous displays geared toward young and open minds. There are moving visual objects, amazing water displays, an audio section, live animals, plants, motion displays, what it feels like to fly a small airplane, the list goes on and on. We only got to 1/4 of the place in the 2.5 hours we were there, so we’ll have to return again."

We love welcoming the thousands of people who visit Explora each year. Embedding STEAM learning opportunities outside of our walls--in New Mexico communities & neighborhoods--is equally important to us. “Family Science in Tiguex Park” is a collaboration among Explora, City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation, Fathers New Mexico, Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps, and several other valuable partners and advisors that will embed STEAM learning activities in Tiguex Park by summer 2024. This week, project partners held a design workshop, inspired by listening session we held with over 70 people from the Sawmill Area Neighborhood Association, YDI , Fathers New Mexico, Together for Brothers, local museums, and Indigenous youth from Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps. We can't wait to see these ideas come to life! This project is generously supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Parks & Recreation Department.

Learning is one of Explora's core values. The discoveries our visitors make, the things that amaze program participants, and the excitement generated when Explora arrives for outreach in remote communities all give our vision life and lasting impact. Recently, we've been welcoming more students on field trips. This week, second grade students came to explore the Light and Shadow program and exhibits and excitedly shared these comments with their Explora educator:

"I discovered that you can move the direction of the light with a mirror!"
"Wow! You can change the color of lights by adding other colors on top!"
"Look! The mirror makes the light shine on the ceiling!"

We can’t help but smile when we hear such excitement about learning, and we're proud to have served over 70,000 New Mexico students through school-based programs last year.

Late last week, top NM communications firm Sunny505 used the upper tier of Explora to film commercial and b-roll footage regarding The Education Plan: New Mexico's 529 college savings program. Carolyn Fittipaldi, Marketing Director of The Education Trust Board of New Mexico states, "We thought Explora was a great venue to show kids having fun doing STEM activities. It ties together well with our mission to encourage families in New Mexico to invest in their child’s future with a 529 college savings plan with The Education Plan." #529

Thank you Ty Nav for this wonderful Google Business Review on Explora:

1/17/23: "Wonderful place for children! My children can't get enough of the place. They love the bubbles and the water activities, playing on the playground, the sand area, the toddler room, and Monday story time for toddlers...there's loads of activities and new things to touch, feel, and DO.

It's a smorgasbord of scientific interactive fun from physics to geometry, to aerodynamic forces, to shadow play, to perception (mind's eyes), and electricity, to personal interactive drawings that can be scanned in and projected onto the wall, to large building blocks, to arts and crafts, and so much more...including ending the day with buying a scientific toy at the gift shop. Great for little and young explorers!

But most of all, they love the science classes. From the Summer camps to the semester programs, we get to participate with them and watch their consciousness grow as they interactively learn WHY our world is so wonderful and HOW it works by manipulating various objects and forces as well as make new inquisitive friends and mentors.

Hence, whether it's the museum, or the new Brillante Early Learning Center or new X Studio for teens and young adults...the vision is that a child can play and grow a particular passion or passions into a serious STEAM career. As parents, we share that vision and find it matches well with our desire for a quality education through play.

The staff is always super friendly and helpful.

We've been endlessly delighted."

Explora’s Growing a Scientist program is an innovative early childhood education program that engages preschoolers ages 2-5 and their caregivers in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). GAS encourages young learners to make discoveries about science by questioning, experiencing, and investigating alongside their adult caregivers. Learning together encourages stronger family bonds and prepares the children for future educational success. Thanks to generous support from Bank of Albuquerque and Sandia Foundation, these adult/child programs occur not only at Explora, but also in collaboration with partners such as Cuidando Los Niños, Saranam LLC , and UNM Health Sciences Parents as Teachers Home Visiting Program.
