At Naeva, we honor everyone who reminds us that acceptance and love have always been apart of who we are as Indigenous peoples. ππ½
Today we celebrate Weβwah of Zuni Pueblo (1849-1896).
They were a respected leader, artist, and Εamana who carried both masculine and feminine traits.
Their life was a testament of resilience, creativity, and cultural pride.
Together we must continue to uplift our Two-Spirit and LGBTQIA2S+ relatives who carry this same spirit of unity and courage today.π»

The renewed presence of American bison roaming the open plains, a sight unseen for over a century, signifies a pivotal moment in conservation efforts that transcends the species itself. Bison are pivotal in sculpting the prairie landscape through their grazing and movement patterns. The impact of their hooves on the soil, the renewal of plant life due to their grazing habits, and the distribution of nutrients via their waste all contribute to a richer, more resilient ecosystem. The historical suppression of bison migrations had far-reaching consequences for the health of the prairie. By reinstating the bison's migratory patterns, we are able to restore the natural harmony of the ecosystem. The bison's return is crucial for the rejuvenation of grasslands and the overall ecological well-being of the prairie, underscoring the interconnectedness of species in an ecosystem.
