🩷 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Together, we show our support, raise awareness, and spread hope.

In 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act became law, opening doors to greater access and opportunity for people with disabilities nationwide. 💚💛

The ADA strengthened protections in employment, public services, transportation, and public spaces, helping remove barriers to community participation.

For ARCA, it was another important step forward in a movement families and advocates had been building for decades.

As ARCA continued opening doors in New Mexico, the ADA helped open more doors for people with disabilities nationwide.

Meet the Stromberg Family, our 70th Anniversary Legacy Ambassadors. 💚💛

For the Strombergs, ARCA has always meant family. Their connection to ARCA crosses generations, from Patricia’s early advocacy to nearly 30 years of ARCA in Marcella’s life.

Their story is woven into ARCA’s history, and we are proud to share it as we celebrate 70 years of opening doors.

The afternoon brought together friends and supporters of ARCA to learn more about legacy giving and the many ways planned gifts can make a lasting impact.

In 1989, ARCA continued opening doors to greater independence through community-based living. 💚💛

In ARCA group homes, people built everyday living skills through cooking, shopping, managing money, caring for their homes, and being part of their communities.

These homes offered more than a place to live. They created opportunities for people to make choices, take on responsibilities, and build greater independence in their everyday lives.

As ARCA continued to grow, so did the opportunities for people to live and participate in the communities they called home.

💚 As DSP Recognition Week comes to a close, we want to thank the Direct Support Professionals who are there each day for the people ARCA supports.

From encouraging personal goals and independence to building connections and sharing everyday moments, our DSPs are an important part of ARCA.

It is encouraging someone to try something new, being there when support is needed, sharing a laugh, and simply enjoying time together.
