Hollow End Handle, with screw cap, shaped so tool may be used as a breast drill, and spare bits. Removable side grip handle. Cut Gears with adjustable friction roll to equalize bearing. Pinion of Steel, Ball Thrust Bearing. Reinforced spindle housing.

Millers Falls Hand Drill No. 2A with Tigerwood Handle - 1960s

This release went into production in 1957. Millers Falls catalog describes this drill as:
Single speed hand drill with two pinions. Die-cast, iron frame is enameled black. The drive gear is painted red. Tropical hardwood main handle with hollow storage for drill bits and cap. "Chef's cap" side handle.
Ball thrust bearing on the spindle. Three-jaw, spring chuck adjustable from 0 to 3/8 inch. Bright parts nickel plated.
This specific specimen was most likely produced during the second part of the 1960s.

This chuck is fully functional but has a few scarrings on the shell.

After the merger with Millers Falls Co., Goodell-Pratt hand drill No. 5.5 received some overhaul but was still sold with Goodell-Pratt markings and under original numbering convention. The catalog No. 42, which offered goods made by Millers Falls Co. and former Goodell-Pratt Co. described this drill as follows:
Known the world over for its smooth operation, years of serviceability and fine finish. Two speeds with ratios of 3.8 to 1 and 1.3 to 1, changed by turning the shift k**b. Ball bearing spindle. Steel pinions.

This handle is made as a replacement for missing k**bs on many MF No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 other Millers Falls hand drills produced between 1907 and 1935.
Turned in hardwood and finished in Red Mahogany Poly. Brass ferrule.
