Ghost towns, oddities, and urban decay are plentiful in the desert Southwest. Thompson Springs, UT had a last reported population of 39. Sandwiched between two gas stations on a stretch of old highway, you will find this nearly abandoned city that seems to only be kept alive by an RV park and a hotel called, The Desert Moon. Although this was a very fun stop with tons of picture opportunities, I have to admit, this town was incredibly eerie. If that's what you're into, then this might be the PERFECT stop for you!
If you have never been to Meow Wolf Santa Fe, you are missing out! Be sure to dip your toe into a portal or two, on your next visit to New Mexico.

Silva's Saloon located in Bernalillo, NM can be found off the original Rt. 66. This historic watering hole is one of the oldest in the state with liquor license #2.
Originally being started during prohibition as a speakeasy, the bar eventually became legal and has been in operation since. In fact Felix Silva Jr. Still tends bar to this day and will tell you stories about every piece of memorabilia on the walls, which you can see are covered from floor to ceiling.
Where horses were once tied to the post out front, you'll now find motorcycles, with Silva's being a popular biker destination. If you love historic bars as much as me, DON'T forget to put Silva's Saloon in your list for your next visit to New Mexico. And MY best advice is to bring some quarters to drop in the juke!

DESERT MUSE
As a child of the desert I have grown up surrounded by the beauty of the Southwest and immersed in our unique blend of cultures. It is important to me to be an active contributor to my community which I believe my work allows me to do in a special way.
Desert Muse is a platform for me to share my passion for art, photography, music, adventure, travel, local businesses and desert lifestyle. I do this by building original content and sharing photo’s of my first hand experiences. I want those who are curious about the desert Southwest to be able to get a feel for our vibe, our culture, and our lifestyle by following this page.
Desert Muse represents some of New Mexico’s VERY BEST local businesses and artisans, building content for them and their brands. I have special bonds and friendships with every client I represent, and truly believe in the value behind every product and service I share.
People from all over the world have fallen for the Southwest and I want to be a part of capturing and sharing those experiences. I have worked very hard over the years turning my work into a catalyst for my passion. Alan Watts once said, “The secret to life is getting paid to do what you love.” I am grateful for my ability to do just that through my digital marketing and content building. Let's work together to help each other THRIVE.
