Spent quality time at the infamous Skidrow in downtown Los Angeles~
A very Heavy experience!
Popped a table up and encouraged a line.
Worked a couple different areas.
We gave away plates to individuals consisting of trays worth of fried chicken, boxes of pizza, loaves of bread, bottles of water, words of encouragement and love.
People of all ethnicity and cultures, the spectrum of ages, people who were freshly on the streets, people who had been there for who knows how many years, people who had just arrived from another country and people that seemed to have business/involvement around there.
Saw drug paraphernalia, fresh physical wounds, the variety of spiritual wounds, direct confrontation & near violence, as well as the beauty of people~
The most beautiful thing was offering the food and water to the next person in line and experience them smile with such a genuine depth of relief and appreciation in their eyes.
The sad part was running out of supplies. A dear friend took this short video at the very end of our Saturday as I served the last man scraps of fried chicken (not any meat, just the fried-breaded scraps) in some bread. He was hungry, everyone was.
The sharing of love was real! I had some of the most profound healing dreams later that night.
Going home to a roof and basic resources that we sometimes take for granted, knowing they'll be out there the next day is heart wrenching & inspiring at the same time. Very thankful for life and all the opportunities we're continually graced with!~
