Stephen Soto, lead pastor of Generation Church, recently had the opportunity to share with the Executive Board of the Baptist Convention of New Mexico about the importance and urgency of church planting across our state.

Stephen, who serves as both a Church Planting Catalyst for NAMB and church planter, carries a deep passion for reaching people with the gospel and helping start new, healthy congregations in NM. His message highlighted the need for multiplying churches, developing leaders, and partnering together to see the gospel advance throughout New Mexico.

Church planting remains a highly effective way to reach new people and communities, and it continues to be a focus for the Baptist Convention of New Mexico as they work alongside churches across the state.

We’re grateful for leaders like Stephen Soto who are faithfully stepping into that mission and calling others to join in the work.

On Easter Sunday, April 5th of 2026; Generation Church had five baptisms. Each of these people have made a public declaration of their faith in God and their faith in his death, burial and resurrection for the purpose of saving us from sin. Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast.”

Church planters from across the state gathered to be equipped and encouraged—training on evangelism, praying together, worshiping together, and strategizing how to make a real gospel impact in our communities.

We walked away refreshed, united, and carrying a clear, comprehensive plan for evangelism. Excited for what God is going to do next! 🚀🙏

We’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Stephen Baum has been unanimously elected as our new Director of Missions! 🙌
His first year will focus on understanding the needs of our Association, strengthening intentional membership, and leading us as we go on mission together.
Let’s praise God for His clear guidance in this decision, and let’s give a huge thanks to our incredible search team for their hard work and faithfulness throughout the process.
