You can't just pull the lever and pop it open like a regular car. The fuel system is pressurized, so the car needs to release pressure first. The vehicle will prompt you when it’s clear to open

When putting the gas cap back on the vehicle after you’re done filling it up, screw the gas cap until it clicks.
Not snug. Not tight. Keep turning until you hear a series of ratcheting clicks. That's the cap seating properly against the seal.

Inflator kits are fine for a nail in the tread. They're useless for a blowout, sidewall tear, or anything bigger than a small puncture. And they can ruin your TPMS sensor in the process.
