Solar is the power source behind the orbital data center race. pv magazine published a piece making that connection directly.
Elon Musk has been saying it publicly since Davos: A solar panel in space generates roughly five times more energy than one on the ground, with no weather, no night cycle, and no atmospheric drag on output. This is driving the entire conversation around AI compute moves off planet.
mPower's silicon solar modules are already in orbit, already in production at scale, and cost more than 5x less than the solar technology the industry has relied on for decades.

Solar key to space-based AI Elon Musk, the CEO of both Tesla and SpaceX, raised some eyebrows at this year’s World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, when he predicted “that the lowest cost place to put AI will be space and that will be true within two to three years, three at the latest.” pv magazine reported o...

Space power isn’t just a technology challenge anymore. It’s a manufacturing one.
In the latest edition of Beyond the Grid, mPower CEO Kevin Hell shares how the company is moving from prototype-era production to automated, high-volume manufacturing—and why that shift matters for the next phase of the space economy.
As Kevin explains, scaling space-grade solar isn’t just about adding equipment. It’s about optimizing yield, building a skilled workforce, and designing power architectures that can support very different missions without slowing production.
With the company's DragonSCALES technology, customization doesn’t come at the cost of throughput—geometry, voltage, and layout can all be tailored while the line keeps moving. That’s what allows space power to scale alongside growing mission demand.

How it started:A tiny lab, a small team, and a huge idea: to prove that a new kind of silicon solar tech could change space power forever. Not much room. Not many tools. Just a lot of determination and a vision bigger than the space they were working in.How it’s going:mPower has taken DragonSCALES™ from small test batches to full high-volume production. The work that once happened in one modest room now fills an entire facility designed to power the next generation of space missions. From lab bench to production line. This is how breakthroughs begin.

Honoring Service. Powering the Future.
On this Veterans Day, mPower Technology honors the men and women whose service and sacrifice have safeguarded the freedoms and ingenuity that drive American innovation. Their courage and resilience continue to inspire our work at the frontiers of space power.
Today, we’re proud to announce the launch of the first automated, high-volume space-solar production line in the United States, located at Universal Instruments Corporation in Conklin, New York.
Opening with 1 MW of annual capacity and scaling to 2 MW by mid-2026, this facility represents a major step toward dependable, scalable, and domestically built solar power for the next generation of orbital, lunar, and deep-space missions.
As we honor those who powered America’s past, we’re building the technologies that will power its future.
