Mayor Tim Keller announces a new crackdown targeting absentee and out-of-state landlords responsible for repeated dangerous housing violations.
The initiative includes the launch of Albuquerque’s first “Lazy Landlord List,” a public dashboard exposing the worst offenders and outlining stepped-up enforcement actions.
City leaders will highlight how the effort protects renters, holds property owners accountable, and delivers real consequences for those who ignore violations.
The announcement includes remarks from City officials and a tenant directly impacted by unsafe living conditions.
The City of Albuquerque host a ribbon cutting celebrating the completion of Phase 1 improvements at the San Antonio Oxbow Bluffs Open Space.
The event will highlight the journey of this special property from a proposed development into protected public open space, and recognize the community partnerships and conservation efforts that helped make the project possible. The San Antonio Oxbow Bluffs (SAOB) Open Space has always been important wildlife habitat. Now, it also has new public amenities and offers opportunities for environmental education and outdoor recreation.
In addition to the grand opening, the City will be honoring the contributions of several community leaders who played significant roles in the protection of SAOB and the City’s Open Space system overall, including: the late Suzanne Poole, a previous owner of the SAOB property; the late Dr. Joe Valles, a community leader and West Side advocate; and Rex Funk, the first Open Space Superintendent, who helped lead protection of the San Antonio Oxbow wetlands and other significant Open Space properties.
The event will include a guided walk of the site, with Open Space staff and partners available to answer questions and provide additional information as well as a community celebration featuring music from Los Trinos, activities, and light snacks and refreshments.
CABQ Community Safety Department - ACS Albuquerque Community Safety’s School-Based Violence Intervention Program (SBVIP) host a ceremony for twelve program-enrolled students who recently graduated from Albuquerque-area high schools. The department along with family and friends will be celebrating their achievements and resilience.
SBVIP places trained intervention specialists in schools to support students impacted by violence, helping them stay on track academically and personally. The program is currently in four Albuquerque high schools

Grand opening of Spirit of the Sunport: ABQ’s Aviation Heritage.
City of Albuquerque and Aviation Department leadership preview a new public history exhibit, Spirit of the Sunport: ABQ’s Aviation Heritage, opening at the Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) as part of its once-in-a-generation renovation project. The exhibit features interactive displays, historic artifacts, aviation history, Indigenous cultural history, and public art stories connected to the Land of Enchantment.
