U-Pick flower farm Brad & Lori Warner farm

We'll be having garden and barn tours this Saturday. We are NOT open to pick flowers yet. Lori will be giving the garden tours where she will talk flowers. I'll be giving tours about our garden structures, including the barn. We've been wanting to do this for some time but never seems to work when we are open. The tasting garden will also be open to learn what is new for 2026. Cost is $5 per adult and will cover both tours. Starting on the hour with garden tour (10-11 and 2-3). Barn tours will be on the half hour 10:30-11:30 and 2:30-3:30

Did I get this picture framed? This view is from the stain glass window on the gate leading to the tasting garden.
The barn will be open to the public on the days we are open (Friday, Saturday and maybe Sunday). Monday thru Thursday the barn can be used by any group. No rental fees for the use, the group will be required to pick flowers. We would like to expand our off days. Last year we had a business from Lindsay and this year we have a business from Norfolk. We think a company outing at VVF would be a great experience for employees. It could involve a food truck, entertainment and other family friendly events. We would not line up these options; the business would have to do this. It could also be used as a customer appreciation outing. I know we also have some smaller clubs coming out this summer. Just remember the barn is not done and still under construction but will be safe.
I'm also looking for music performers, atmosphere type music to help set the vibe.
We're also looking at Barn Fest 2026. We're just starting the planning. It might be small this year. How would you like to use the barn? Let us know your thoughts!

I got some color added to the barn. The color is called terra cotta. I thought it fit our flower theme at VVF. I've never seen this color on a barn before, but I think it works. I'll add more color with the barn quilts and the window boxes. The barn will be open for this season's u pick. I'm not done, I'll need another year to finish it. I've been asking myself if we would have moved and fixed this barn up if we didn't have the flower farm. I don't think we would've. I know this barn is our future with flowers. It took your support for VVF for this to happen, Thank you! Something awesome has come out of VVF!

This is a yellow peony flower that is blooming for us now. I don't remember the name. Did you know that peony roots can sell for thousands of dollars. Maybe next year we can have a peony season.

The Lupine is putting on a show! We do have some color with different plants blooming now. We've for the most part finished planting on the 16th. Need to succession plant some bulbs and fill in for some perennials that died over winter. The stone barn floor is almost pieced together. I'm really looking forward to getting the shingles on the roof to add color to the barn, it should really pop. For me it's parttime working with the flowers and some work on the barn.
I've talked about helping fellow flower people with their questions. Some people follow us on FB and some even visit our farm. I don't want to mislead flower farms about serving alcohol on our farm. We have a license from the Nebraska Liquor Commission to serve. Having someone cater alcohol is another option. If you have any questions, just contact me and I tell you what I think I know. Have a good summer!

Happy Mother's Day! It's the one day that I would like to be open here at VVF. It's also prime planting time for our summer u-pick.
This summer we would like for you to consider visiting VVF 3 times this summer. This gives you a chance to see the flowers at different times and with different people. Every month will look different; flowers come and go. Some flowers don't bloom until late summer. You will get 2 summer visits and one visit the last weekend of the season. You will pay as you go, first Quart is $25 the next is $20 and the last is $15.
If you got gypped on Mother's Day, I'm willing to take $10 for the last bouquet. No questions asked.
We've upgraded our drink selection in the tasting garden. We'll have 8-10 wines by the glass. Wines from France, Italy, California and others. Chardonnay, Moscato and others, we'll offer Mimosas, Cosmo and Expresso. Still working on a beer.
We're looking forward to seeing you this summer!

May, go time he at VVF. We have about 115 flats left to plant, tubers, other bulbs and transplant 300 mums. Planting is getting harder as we get older. After planting the flower plug, the work of protecting the plant from the weather starts. This is really the unknown for us. How much time will it take to protect our plants. This process can add so much time for us.
Things will be different this year because of the time I need to work on the barn project. Monday and Tuesday we'll be doing the honor system on the north field. Friday and Saturday we'll be fully open to all fields and the tasting garden. Closed Wednesday and Thursday for maintenance work on the flower beds. Sunday is the only question on how we open, honor or fully open. We can always be open for groups by appointment. If I can get things done on the barn we can change how we are open. I'll post times later.
Another thing we are working on is looking at more drink choices. Single serve products allow us to have more selection. I even looked into getting a music license that would allow us to have live music.
Good luck everyone with your gardens.

I got a few more things started on the barn. This is the main floor and the west wall. I had to replace some siding and added this old carriage door that I got from Sioux Falls. I've pulled off of the barn project and we started planting flowers this week. What a wild weather week for these flowers. The flowers have experience 85 to 23 degrees and high winds. The weather always adds more work for us. Lori is busy potting up plants and sowing seeds in the greenhouse. Next week we'll be back planting flowers. We hope everyone's flowers made it through the cold weather last night.
