The Millers, along with Sarah and Leo, went to the zoo today. As they approached the gorilla exhibit, the guide told them they were in for a treat. They had just added a baby gorilla to the exhibit that had been brought in from another zoo. The guide explained that something had happened to the gorilla‘s mother, but this new family would care for the baby, ensuring its safety and protection. Leo resonated with this.

The Millers and Leo sat down with the social worker today, along with Marcus, Leo’s court advocate, to discuss what Leo wanted for the future. After six months of inconsistent participation from Leo’s mom regarding the reunification plan, it is obvious that things will have to change for his future. Leo is torn between two worlds: he loves his mom, but he also loves the Millers.

Tonight, David read Leo a book about a bear who was lost in the woods and separated from his parents. When David tucked Leo into bed, Leo asked if it was OK to call him "Dad." David told Leo he could call him whatever he was comfortable with.

Today at therapy, Leo drew a picture of a bridge. The picture showed Leo standing in the middle, the Millers on the left side of the bridge and his mother on the right. He told his therapist he wasn’t sure which direction he wanted to go.

Leo received his final report card in the mail today. His grades went from D’s and F’s the first half of the year to A’s and B’s in the second half of the year. Consistency, love, and stability make things better.

While buying shoes, the clerk asked David, "Does he take after his Dad?" David paused. Leo watched. David said, "He’s got his own spirit." Leo liked that.

A "Guardian ad Litem" came to talk to Leo for the first time. They asked, "Where do you feel happiest?" Leo looked at Rex. Rex didn't have an answer, and neither did Leo.
