Project Next Step summer camp ended today and we celebrated with a HUGE LUAU to celebrate everyone’s growth in social, emotional, and personal goals 🌺🌸 Check out the incredible spread that surprised our students when they walked in.

We topped off the afternoon with a beach themed field day!! What an amazing 6 weeks it has been!!

Project Next Step group visit Kannapolis Cannon Ballers for Camp Day on Wednesday July 26!! They all had a ball at this event!!

Project Next Step has its first BIKE RODEO this morning thanks to Albemarle Parks and Recreation’s Mr Oliver for organizing this event for us at EE WADDELL! Thank you to Albemarle Police for coming out to speak with our group about safety. What a great event that we hope to continue every year!!

Today’s BACKPACK MATH CHALLENGE was a success!! Students so many different math skills to complete each task today. But I think it’s safe to say, the $150 shopping spree was the overall favorite activity!

Thank you to Krista Turner for taking the time to teach our middle schoolers about archery today!! The students LOVED this experience!! 🏹 🎯 and thank you to Central Elementary School for hosting our event!

A big thank you to Stanly County Library and Jimmy Vang for planning a phenomenal Arts and Anime Day for us!!

Thank you so much to Mr Kirven, Crystal Roseman, and Blue Waters Pool for letting us come swim at your beautiful pool today!! The kids said they had the BEST time!

STEAM-Swimming Pool Challenge!!
Make a pool that does not leak using the materials provided. Some of these pools turned out pretty good and the water stayed in all day!

NASCAR STEAM came out today and students were able to build and race their own race cars!! WOW!! Check out the races!!

Check out this huge collage that my summer camp Project Next Step created in collaboration with Albemarle Parks and Recreation and City of Albemarle - City Government.

Such a creative display from children in Albemarle Parks and Recreation’s summer programs at the E.E. Waddell Center. They crafted this #ILoveAlbemarle mosaic. In addition to coloring the letters and symbols on the design, the children also wrote what they love most about living here. For some, it’s the places where they eat and shop. Others mentioned their school or the parks where they play with family and friends. Thanks for showing us what makes our community so special!

Project Next Step Middle school group visited Discovery Place Science on July 11 to explore all the STEAM opportunities. They learned about the different ecosystem exhibits, explored cool and bizarre science activities and labs, and learned about architecture through planning and building.
