Need inside play time ideas?

We have lots of rainy days in October, so planning inside activities is a must!

Play dough is always a fun experience and adding seasonal cutters creates a fun, fall theme. 🎃🍁

In addition play dough:
-Helps develop fine motor
-Calming for children
-Encourages creativity
-Enhances hand-eye coordination

No play dough? No problem! It is really easy to make using common baking products.

Homemade Play Dough Recipe
2 cups flour
2 Tablespoons oil (any kind will do)
1/2 cup salt
2 Tablespoons cream of tartar
1 1/2 cups boiling water
Gel food coloring

Mix all ingredients together until it forms the dough. Punch out the middle and add food coloring. Use hands to distribute color throughout dough.
If desired, before adding food coloring, divide dough into smaller batches, so you can create multiple colors of dough.

Fun in the garden!

We took advantage of the nice weather and planted potatoes today. Gardening is a great activity for toddlers. As the plants grow children develop a sense of purpose and responsibility.

In addition, studies show that when children have contact with soil during activities like digging and planting, they have improved moods, better learning experiences, and decreased anxiety.

Directions for planting potatoes are in the photos. I hope you can get your little one out in the dirt too.

Just for fun- You can watch this short video on YouTube to learn about planting potatoes. It is a music video that you can watch with your little one.

Using a recycled egg carton, paint, and a wood dowel you can introduce your child to sorting, matching, colors, and counting.

Cut a 1-inch dowel to 1 1/4 inch, color with nontoxic paint, and reuse an old egg carton.

Easy and fun!
