These hot, humid summer days can be much harder on our dogs than we realize. What feels manageable to us can quickly become dangerous for them.

When in doubt, leave them home where they can stay cool, comfortable, and safe. Not every errand or outing needs to be a dog outing.

Your dog would rather miss a trip than risk overheating.

If your dog seems to forget everything the second you leave the house, they’re not being difficult. They’re processing a lot of information!

Focus around distractions is something we build through training and practice.

Walking in the Wild is a great class to get you and your dog out working in real world environments while improving your leash walking skills! 🐾

Looking for a way to enjoy the sunshine with your dog? Leash walking is the way to do it! It’s that time of the year again when we love going on walks with our dogs. In this class Walking in the Wild we practice our leash walking skills with other dogs in the real world. Week 1 will be at the training room located on Railroad Ave to go over our skills and make sure we are prepared. Weeks 2-5 will be in various places throughout the Capital Region. This class is intended for dogs 1 year or older. Dogs must not be dog reactive in any way. Class size is limited.
Dates: Sunday May 31th, June 7, June 21, June 28 and July 5
Time: 10am - 11am
Course length: 5 weeks
Cost: $200

A dog who struggles outside is not “bad” or “stubborn” 🐾

The outside world is full of exciting sights, sounds, smells, and movement. Learning how to stay engaged around distractions is a skill that takes time, practice, and realistic expectations.

The “little things” are usually the things that matter most day to day 🐾

Loose leash walking, settling calmly, focus around distractions, and polite manners all add up to a smoother and more connected life with your dog.

Canine Good Citizen - it sounds so boring, but, I love the structure it adds to my training, and who doesn't love a class where you get a ribbon at the end?

Not only can it be a nice stepping stone for Therapy Dog Prep, it builds the skills you need to take your dog out in public - and it gets the treats out of your hand! And again, you get a ribbon!
