Lovely day in the Mac on Sunday. Met some cool people, climbed 3000+ ft in ten miles, and watched the 40 eat all the worst lines like cookie monster. Happy Day!

In the words of , "If you go that deep, you're on your own."
Does the seal come in the 200hr or "Full" service kit? It does not!
Crazy that a seal as important as this one, which separates adjusters in the eyelet from the oil column does not come in the baggie from the manufacturer. The O-Ring sees wear, as it goes up and down when the lockout lever is actuated. It also rotates when the LSC k**b is turned. While it might not be as crucial to replace as the IFP seal or the main shaft seal, it still should, in my opinion, be replaced when the shock is overhauled. So why does it not come in the kit? The kit is not cheap, so why not throw the customer or service tech a bone and provide it? I just don't get it. I bet anyone working on shocks could name the one major suspension OE player that seems to be getting more stingy with their seal kits every iteration. It absolutely influences whose shocks I recommend to my customers. Let's just say some companies are more generous than others.
All the more reason to call someone who absolutely hoards O-Rings and small parts and has stacks to choose from when the time comes π€

Slow is fast. I keep reminding myself of that. This week has been a good kinda crazy. Lots of projects, much love from customers. I must be doing something right! This little DPS had me thinking CTD. And the 34 Factory on the front had been crying inside for years! Treat your suspension well with a service once a year. You can push it longer but there will be costs. Without a good cleaning every so often, little tiny springs and balls within the dampers will disintegrate. Spring is getting busy, so if you want to get in soon, better get on it!

The most satisfying moments of being a tech. You don't always succeed as you envisioned, but if you go the right direction, lean on instinct, and let the parts tell the story, things usually work out. Getting to save a 15 yr old caliper for an old friend who got himself in a pickle, well thats the icing on the cake!

A rare moment of calm before diving into an absolute UNIT! Can't argue with polished aluminum. Slated for full fork/shock/bearings service but just could not justify replacing bearings that were perfectly fine. 200hr services for the Fork and Shock and she's back in the wild. My kind of catch and release!π service

I'm going to say it again, for those folks in the nosebleeds;
Regarding >'21 FLOAT X2
You want to be on the latest version,
Updated model yr '24
Not OE model yr '24
To check, scan the code or run your sr # on ridefox.com
If it comes up associated to a bike, even if it is a '24 model bike, it has likely not received the updates.
If the system comes up with just the description of the shock, and it is a '24 model, it is likely to have already received the updates. If you want to confirm, open the air can and look for the silver seal head assembly (Where the shaft goes in). Yes, this requires some specialty tools and a vice.
The silver seal head indicates that it has received the updates.
If yours does not have the silver seal head, it needs to go back to Fox.
My opinion is that it is not worth servicing the old (21~24) units.
Help them Cull the herd of blown X2's.
Send your shock back and get an updated, full factory, box fresh X2.
The new version is, (In Borat voice)
VERY NICE!!
My personal updated X2 has been passed between four or five bikes by now and run non-stop since august. It has been superb. I have yet to see an updated version fail, which is good, because I have also not seen an updated seal kit yet. π
This is one of 10+ that I've helped swap so far, and I am far from done.
So far, nobody has paid more than the price of shipping (To them) and nobody has been asked to produce record of purchase.
I charge $50 for the service of facilitating the process, but you can do it yourself quite easily. Just make sure you check the box for warranty eval on the RA request form.
Most have been quick turnaround of 2 weeks total.
This one took 10.
Sometimes they run out of a size. As you can imagine, they are flying off the shelves in NV.
None of this applies to the Coil version, the DHX2.
DHX2 has not been updated.
Yet.π€
Thank you for fixing the issue and doing what is possible to resolve it.

A process everyone loves to hate. Covering the subject in depth today on my weekly Wednesday 1pm live terrible drawings. The process can drive a person mad, but not getting flats is worth it. Get your feed bucket and your soapy water, we're going in.
