🏃🏻‍♀️ Where Were We This Weekend? 🏃🏾‍♂️

What a busy June weekend with a great mix of events! Our crew was out supporting three races across different parts of Upstate New York.

Here’s where we were:

• Route 50 1 Mile – Thursday, June 11th – Burnt Hills, NY (the 17th annual race that kicks off the Flag Day Parade with big community energy!)

• Nate Race 5K & 12K – Saturday, June 13th – Canasota, NY (held during Boxing Hall of Fame Weekend supporting local scholarships and youth programs)

• RMHC 5K Family Fun Day – Saturday, June 13th – Albany, NY (a fun family event supporting children and families across the Capital Region)

Huge thanks to the entire AREEP team for handling the Thursday night start and an early Saturday morning to make all three events a success! 👏 We also want to give a big shoutout to all the dedicated volunteers and race coordinators who helped everything come together.

Meet Sarah 👋

When Sarah toes the line, she brings both grit and heart. Sarah has had some deeply meaningful moments in her running journey, but none compare to the emotion she felt in 2024 when she ran the NYC Marathon in memory of her dad while raising funds for the National Kidney Foundation. The powerful experience of getting off the ferry and walking to the start line, surrounded by incredible energy, carried her all the way to the finish in a day she will never forget.

She runs in her Hoka Mach 6 shoes and prefers to run without headphones so she can enjoy her surroundings or chat with friends. She absolutely loves fall running in the 50s with sunshine, while super hot and humid days are her least favorite. Her go-to accessories include CEP mid-cut compression socks, energy chews, and her Nathan water bottle.

Sarah is currently training for the Chicago Marathon this fall with the goal of beating her 3:48 time. After races she looks forward to a bagel sandwich from Uncommon Grounds or sushi. She credits her running partners Jennifer Richardson and John Sestito for making training so much better. They hold each other accountable, push one another to improve, and Jen’s positive energy always keeps her grounded.

Last year she ran the Helderberg to Hudson Half, Sara Lee Delightful Run for Women, Rio Half Marathon in Brazil, Boilermaker 15K, Albany JCC 10K, Mohawk Hudson Half, Stockade-athon, and Troy Turkey Trot. With a few races under her belt already this year, she plans to run many of her local favorites again as well as the Firecracker4, Chicago Marathon, and a Hyrox event in DC.

Her favorite local running spots include Sunday long runs at Lions Park, SUNY loops, and the Barn loop.

Sarah is a beautiful example of how running can honor the people we love while building new memories with friends who become family.

What an incredible first weekend of June! Our crew was spread out across multiple locations supporting five events and helping make race day magic happen from the Capital District all the way to Washington, DC.

Here’s where we were:

• Pride Run 5K – Saturday, June 6th – Washington, DC
• Lifesong Dash 5K – Saturday, June 6th – Clifton Park, NY
• Charlton Heritage 5K – Saturday, June 6th – Charlton, NY
• ARE’s 24th Dodge the Deer 5K & Kids Races – Sunday, June 7th – Castleton, NY

Thanks to everyone who joined us at Schodack Island State Park! The kids races were awesome and the 5K was fantastic.
