Do you know your own worth?

I know it’s a bit of a deep question to grapple with over morning (or afternoon) coffee, but how you answer can have a greater impact than you may realize. You may answer differently depending on how you grew up, experiences that you’ve had, or people you have known that have influenced how you see yourself, for better or worse.

At the end of the day, though, there is one measure by which we can know our true worth, and one voice that cuts through the noise of the world to remind us of our immeasurable worth: the voice of God himself and what He says about us.

The whole of the Bible communicates God’s unfailing, and unchanging love for us as His creation and beloved children. When we take God at His word about who He is and who He says we are, it changes everything about how we navigate the world. God’s love for us empowers us and gives us the hope and courage to boldly step forward in faith in ways we never imagined.

In Mark 5:21-34, we see this courage and hope in a woman who suffered with ongoing bleeding. We don’t know her name because it’s not mentioned in Scripture, but we know about her situation and how it would have defined her….Read the rest of this devotional at the link in our bio to learn how one encounter with Jesus can change everything!

Do you know your worth?

It’s a big question to grapple with, especially over afternoon coffee, but the answer can impact more than you may realize. For years I wore "busy" like a badge of honor, filling my days with more commitments and to-dos than any one person should carry. When I plopped into bed at night, I'd recall the day and think it was a "win" because ninety percent of my checklist was marked off. My calendar was full, but my soul was empty—exhausted, worn out, and spiritually parched.

All I was receiving from this kind of living was emptiness, and it drew me away from the very One who created life – the One who wanted to give me life and life abundant. I wanted the full life Jesus offered me, and I knew it had to be different than just having a full calendar.

I’ve been on a journey with the Lord and He’s opened my eyes to some beautiful truths regarding rest and how it is tied to my identity in Christ. This journey took me all the way back to the beginning to review Creation and the story of the Israelites, to understand who God is, how God implemented rest, and His heart toward rest. These truths have been shaping my heart, my living, and my calendar, and I am confident they can shape yours, too....Read the rest of this devotional by Hester Christensen at the link in the comments below, or in our bio.

In a culture that measures our “worth by our work and identity by our productivity”, the idea of rest might seem counterintuitive. But constantly living that way can leave us feeling empty and exhausted, pulling us further away from God.

In this episode, we’ll chat with our new friend, Hester Christensen, as she shares her journey of grounding her identity in Christ through resting in God. You’ll be encouraged and refreshed as we dive into Scripture to remember who God is and His heart for us.

If you’ve been feeling burned out lately, this episode is an open invitation to sit with us for a bit, experience God’s love through His Word, and to rest in Him as his beloved daughter.

The transition from summer to autumn can come with mixed feelings. If you're like me, I'm torn between wanting the fun of warm summer nights, swimming at the lake, and enjoying concerts in the park to never end, and at the same I find myself longing for normal routines and the schedules that come with back-to-school and the Fall. While those routines bring consistency, they can also bring a busier pace of life that can make us feel exhausted before we even get started.

As we go into the fall, how can we bring the slower pace and light-heartedness of summer into our busier season?

"Jesus loves you this I know, for the Bible tells me so…"

It was the only song that would calm my youngest foster son down at bedtime when he first came to our family. Going back and forth between homes left him with little consistency, and we were going through a season where he would not go to bed without a fuss. So, I began a routine of rocking him and singing to him, just like I had done with my older children since birth. We would go through the same routine each night, asking him if he would like me to sing to him, and then singing the same four songs. He would look at me intently through the first 3 songs, sniffling and just on the verge of crying. But when I reached the last song, “Jesus Loves You”, his little face would transform into a smile, and by the end of the song, he would say contentedly, “Ready bed now.”

I had tried all sorts of other things to console him, but he found his true comfort in hearing that someone bigger than all of us loved him. It wasn’t all the stuffies and cozy blankets, a bottle, or rubbing his back, it was hearing that he was loved. A song I have sung thousands of times over the years, sometimes purely as a routine, rang as grandeur in his ears. For the next several nights the same thing would transpire. He would listen, just on the verge of tears, until he heard “Jesus Loves You” and then a peaceful smile would spread across his sweet face and he’d say, “Ready bed now”.

I realized that this song, though it seemed small to me, was a BIG thing for him. It made me pause, thanking God for opening my eyes to what my son truly needed to hear, and how this little thing, transformed not only bedtime but ultimately our lives...(finish reading the rest of this devotional by Dawn Marie Perez in the comments)

We’ve all experienced moments in life when we’ve been hurt by something unfair or unjust. Maybe someone said something mean or untrue about you behind your back, or treated you unfairly. When faced with conflict and injustice in the world, or in our own lives, how are we called to respond?

In today’s episode, we’ll explore the freedom from bitterness and anger we find when we trust in God and anchor our identity in Christ. You’ll hear real-life stories of how God has worked in the past, find some encouragement and solidarity from King David in Psalm 37, and be reminded that you are known and loved by the God who makes justice shine like the dawn.
