Our Story
The Legal Project was founded by the Capital District Women’s Bar Association in 1995. The Legal Project provides free and low cost civil legal information and services to people of low to moderate income in the Capital Region of New York State who cannot afford an attorney in legal areas such as domestic violence, bankruptcy, foreclosure, divorce, wills and immigration. We also assist college students who are survivors of sexual assault, dating violence or stalking. We have over 240 volunteer attorneys who provide pro bono services as well as experienced staff attorneys.
