On Tuesday, March 11th, Joan Hunt (Pilot Director and Executive Director of the Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood) and Lira Campbell (HudsonUP Pilot Ambassador) joined other members of the NYS Cash Alliance in Albany for the first-ever “Power of Cash Advocacy Day.” Throughout the day, members of the Alliance met with legislators at the State Capitol to bring additional attention to the state’s growing economic crisis, while also highlighting the ability of direct cash to meet this moment. The day’s events culminated in a rally in front of the Million Dollar Staircase where Mrs. Campbell delivered a passionate speech, calling on New York’s leadership to step up their efforts to end poverty by getting unconditional cash into the hands of New Yorkers most in need.
