Proud to be in the company of all the other survivors in this reel, especially as I will celebrate 25 since my first diagnosis this September.

Since we have some time at the airport, I took a closer look at the Jimmy V presentation. It’s interesting that my favorite part of his ESPY speech is included here along with his lifetime stays. “To me, there are three things we all should do everyday…”. Brilliant!

I am creating a post with a ‘Send Message’ button so that people can reach me. I am always here for support for anyone who needs it, and I can also connect you to someone who may have lived a very similar experience to yours. It’s important for us to be understood as we go through struggle.

So we started getting on our teenage boys to make their beds. They couldn’t see the point and resisted my explanation, but I remembered this video. What I forgot was everything after the making the bed part. I was blessed with people around me to help me through the mud, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than helping others through their ‘mud’. This is six minutes well spent. Even my teens agreed.

Where No One Rises Alone
My name is Scott Baker, and I have survived four battles with cancer over the past 20 years. While in isolation receiving my 2nd Auto Stem Cell Transplant, I woke up one day with a complete vision of a place where cancer survivors could go for support in achieving the best in mind, body, and spirit throughout their cancer experience from diagnosis through treatment and far beyond as they manage life after a cancer diagnosis. I found such a place in Latham, NY called the American Cancer Society Hope Club. I created the Community Hope House so that I can raise funds for the Hope Club with the goal of providing full-time dedicated staff to manage and facilitate the programs and services, and ultimately providing a place where no one has to face cancer alone, where instead they will find a supportive environment surrounded by other people who completely understand them.
