If anyone is able to help donate we could use some more pellet food and treats. We are running low and we still have 32 older rats in our care that we are unable to adopt out due to their age and temperaments. Please make sure you and your family are taken care of first and foremost. We appreciate any help.

Thank you

PEANUT BUTTER CRUNCH
* 1 cup whole wheat flour
* 1 T. crunchy reduced-fat peanut butter
* 1 T. honey
* 1/3 cup water

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Grease cookie sheet (or use a spray). I like to use a mini-muffin pan because it makes them little rattie muffins!

Mix all ingredients with a pastry blender. Shape into 1/2" balls and place on cookie sheet. These do not spread so can be placed close together.

Bake 45 minutes; leave in oven until oven cools to dry out and be crunchy.

MAKES APPROXIMATELY 60 1/2" BALLS

Sweet Potato Balls -

1 large sweet potato, microwaved until soft
1/2 cup raisins
1 mashed banana
1 cup mixed fresh or frozen mixed vegetables
1 cup diced apples
1 1/2 cup uncooked oatmeal, corn flakes or granola cereal.
Mix all together and add enough fruit or vegetable juice to make it form small balls. Freeze balls individually. Defrost and serve.

Super-powered No-cook Porridge

Ingredients:

a selection of rolled grains (I use barley and rice as they are gentle on elderly kidneys)
plant-based milk (I use soy, but any other milk replacement works)
linseed (flaxseed) meal
hempseed powder

Pour the grains into a bowl until you have about 2/3rd of the total volume you want. Cover in soy milk and leave to soak in the fridge until the grains are swollen and mushy (can leave it overnight). Give the porridge a stir to check the consistency – you want it sloppy not sticky – and add more milk if needed. Stir in a tea spoon each of flaxseed meal and hempseed powder per 3 rats. Serve in a bowl for the group, or on individual spoons.

Ingredients: Lab blocks (I use Oxbow), water, meat baby food (your choice)

Directions: Place half a cup of lab blocks into a cup and add warm water. Wait 10 minutes for blocks to soften and then stir until mushy (Note: If you have leftover lab block dust in the bag you can skip this step!) Now add half a jar of meat baby food to the mush and mix. Take a pinch of the mush and place onto baking sheet. Finally, place sheet into freezer and once cooled, serve to your rats

Rattie Pizza

Ingredients: Tortilla, tomato sauce, shredded cheese, veggies (I usually use mushrooms and peppers)

Directions: Cut out several small circles from your tortilla, about 1-2 inches in diameter. Slather some tomato sauce on each tortilla circle, then sprinkle on some shredded cheese. Now cut up a few pieces of small veggies and sprinkle these onto each tortilla piece. Finally, cut each piece into 6 slices and serve it to your rats

Yogurt Drops:

Ingredients: Yogurt

Directions: Place tiny drops of yogurt onto a baking sheet. Stick this sheet into the freezer and allow it to harden. After the yogurt hardens you will have delicious little yogurt drops to feed to your rat
