IBH Addiction Recovery wants to give a huge shout-out to Jolene Lane, Director of the Akron Innovation Team for Bloomberg’s American Sustainable Cities Initiative, who spoke at our Staff Lunch with a Leader Series last Friday about recovery and resilience. The engaging discussion centered on how both addiction recovery and climate adaptation build resilience and adaptability, break cycles of harm, and support long-term behavior change. Thank you, Jolene!

At IBH Addiction Recovery, recovery is strengthened through connection, encouragement, and people who genuinely care.

As an IBH REACH Associate, Mikey Zofchak serves as a role model, mentor, advocate, and coach for individuals at every stage of recovery. He helps participants build confidence, reduce the risk of relapse, and stay focused on long-term recovery. Mikey also coordinates volunteer opportunities with community partners such as the Peter Maurin Center, Firestone Park UMC, and others, helping clients experience the value of giving back while rebuilding their lives.

When asked what he enjoys most about working at IBH Addiction Recovery, Mikey shared: "Loving the clients when they don't have the capacity to love themselves. Also, working for Bill Barber has been an absolutely phenomenal experience. I can't put into words how much I love and respect my boss."

Thank you, Mikey, for your compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to helping others find hope, healing, and lasting recovery.

Congresswoman Emilia Sykes announced that the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services has awarded IBH Addiction Recovery $369,317 through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Targeted Capacity Expansion: Special Projects (TCE-SP) grant program. This represents the first distribution of more than $1.1 million in multi-year funding awarded to strengthen our recovery housing program.

These funds will help ensure individuals leaving residential treatment have access to safe, stable, sober housing while continuing outpatient treatment, receiving peer recovery support, connecting with employment opportunities, and building the skills needed for lasting recovery.

We are grateful to Congresswoman Sykes, SAMHSA, and all of our partners who continue to support recovery and hope for those affected by substance use disorders.
