At your Akron Zoo, you'll come nose-to-nose with more than 2,000 animals from around the world!
At 17 years old, Tai Lung is one of the oldest snow leopards in a zoo accredited by The Association of Zoos and Aquariums. But don't tell Tai Lung that! He has really been enjoying his new, expanded habitat, including rolling in the clover and climbing on the lower rocks as the higher rocks are a little harder for him to reach these days.
The median life expectancy for snow leopards is 15 years, 5 months. While Tai Lung continues to do well, he is receiving geriatric care.

Come meet our playful otters, Molly and Stratton, during one of our Get Closer experiences. Guests on this tour have the opportunity to feed the otters, and learn about their wild ways. You'll also take a special tour of their indoor space to see where they live, swim and play. This 'otterly' magical experience is offered Sunday or Friday afternoons until Thanksgiving. Happy Fat Bear Week! Jackson wanted to get in on the fun this year, so he's been packing on the pounds to reach 760 pounds. That's the heaviest he's weighed, but bulking season is still underway! If he follows the trend from the last three years, he could gain another 30 pounds at his heaviest. Visit him soon to see him working on his winter body!

It's good to be bad! That's why we're Chillin' with the Villains at our next brunch on Sunday, Oct. 4 from 9 - 11 a.m.! This event is not scary and perfect for families of all ages. Tickets must be purchased in advance so get yours now: https://www.akronzoo.org/chillin-villains
It's up to you to decide - are these fairytale villains are just misunderstood or are they bad to the bone? Guests will enjoy a brunch buffet with stories, songs, photo opportunities and character interactions with your favorite fairytale villains.

Yesterday, we officially opened the new John Brown Monument Trailhead! This new pathway offers public access to the John Brown Monument, weather permitting, during zoo hours. The pathway closes 30 minutes prior to the zoo closing.
Access to the Monument is available from the zoo parking lot and parking is free. The John Brown Monument Trailhead is a partnership with Summit Historical Society City of Akron, OH and Summit Metro Parks.
