Akron Chapter DAR was organized November 12, 1923 by Mrs. The chapter was formed to meet the timeframe needs of working women. Although this scheduling preference is not uncommon today, it certainly was at that time. Meetings are held at Fairlawn Country Club, with exception of annual joint meeting and June 'outing'. In recent years, Akron Chapter has:
- donated two six-foot benches to Akron VA Clinic on Waterloo Road
- celebrated 90th Anniversary on November 9, 2013 at Fairlawn Country Club
- purchased and framed our Chapter Charter in spring of 2014
- annually participates in Laura Williams Dunlop Stand Down for homeless and displaced veterans serving approx. 450 veterans each year.
-created a Pollinator Memorial Garden at Ohio Veterans Memorial Park in Clinton, OH in 2019
