A huge thank you to our friends at for their continued dedication and support of Keep Akron Beautiful! Their team goes above and beyond, doing litter cleanups an incredible 2–3 times each week to help keep our community clean, safe, and beautiful.

The UDS volunteers have also generously donated their time at our office, helping organize litter supplies and prepare Recycle Right tags by rubber banding them for distribution. These behind-the-scenes tasks are essential to keeping our programs running smoothly, and their assistance makes a tremendous difference.

We are incredibly grateful for their hard work, positive attitude, and ongoing partnership.

Their hard work and helping hands made a big impact as we planted beautiful flowers that will brighten downtown Akron all season long.

Our friendly Recycling Inspectors are back at it and officially started their routes on Monday! ♻️

Be sure to , Akron! If an item that doesn't belong in your recycling cart is spotted, your cart may receive an "Oops Tag" with information to help you correct the mistake before your next collection day.

We are seeing some great improvement of clean bins across the city, and that's thanks to your hard work and commitment to recycling correctly. Keep up the great work, Akron! We appreciate your efforts to keep our recycling stream clean and effective!

Yesterday, some members of Leadership Akron Class 41 joined us for an ambitious cleanup effort beneath the Kenmore Bridge, and what a difference they made.

The site was an abandoned encampment filled with scattered trash, broken household items, discarded clothing, furniture, plastic waste, and years of accumulated debris.

What you see in these photos is a reminder of both the challenge and the opportunity. While the amount of debris was overwhelming and something our staff deals with on the daily, the dedication and teamwork shown by these volunteers was even greater.

A huge thank you to the members of Leadership Akron Class 41 who spent their day helping restore this space. Your hard work, positive attitudes, and commitment to our community made a lasting impact. Projects of this scale are only possible because of volunteers who are willing to step up and do the difficult work. 🚮Also, a special thank you to Ward 9 Councilperson Tina Brode Boyes for stopping out to thank the volunteers for their efforts!

The ABCs of Trees! 🌳

Trees aren’t just vital for us today, they’re essential for future generations. By educating our community now, we’re helping inspire the next generation of tree stewards who will care for, protect, and benefit from these trees for years to come.

Each week, we’ll highlight a new letter of the alphabet, sharing a tree-related word and what it means because understanding trees helps us better appreciate and care for them.

This week’s letter is S for Samara: Samara are dry, winged fruits which remain closed at maturity. Example is a maple seed, twirly whirly or helicopter!

A huge thank you (and congratulations on 55 years!) to Barberton Tree Service Inc. for being such an incredible partner and collaborator in our mission to keep Akron clean, green, and beautiful.

We had an incredible day at our annual Rough to Green Golf Outing at Country Club of Hudson! A heartfelt thank you to all of our generous sponsors and the many golfers who joined us in support of the agency. Your enthusiasm and generosity made the day truly special.

This year’s outing was held in honor of former board member and dedicated Akronite Anne Lazzerini. We were honored to welcome Anne’s mother to join us for the celebration and help commemorate her lasting impact on our community.

A special thank you as well to our friends at Pepsi and Poppi for hosting a delicious Poppi tasting on the course, and to Serra Acura for bringing out a 2026 Acura Integra for our exciting hole-in-one challenge.
