September is Su***de Prevention Month, and it’s especially meaningful for those of us in the first responder community.
Every day, we face situations that most people never see—and while we’re trained to help others, many of us carry silent burdens of our own.
𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒏𝒐 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒆. Recognizing the signs of emotional stress or suicidal thoughts—changes in behavior, withdrawal, hopelessness, or unusual mood shifts—can make all the difference.
And one of the most powerful tools we have is simply starting the conversation.
If you’re worried about someone, 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 if they’re thinking about su***de. It’s not harmful to ask—often, it’s the lifeline they need to feel seen, supported, and safe.

The Cuyahoga Falls Police Department has a new full-time resident: a therapy dog named Crosby, who is already making an impact on officers and will soon help crime victims as well.

Team up with us for a great cause! Come out and watch the AFD vs APD battle it out on the court in this year's Hoops for the Homeless charity basketball game.

We are trading our uniforms for jerseys to support our community, raise awareness, and help those in need. Expect fast breaks, friendly rivalry, and a whole lot of fun for the entire family.

Even those words barely capture how we at SFSC feel after witnessing what unfolded at InfoCision Stadium on Friday evening.

From start to finish, we watched people of all ages come together with a shared purpose—to honor and remember the lives lost 25 years ago in the tragedy of 9/11/2001. The unity, the respect, the determination…it was powerful.
