I have been reading this devotional for nearly 30 years now, it was a gift to me out of service from the Lord. Literally I received it left in a phone booth in Cincinnati, as an on-call social worker. The intimate friend that Jesus has shown himself to be in these words written by the "Two Listeners," is the friend that has saved my life and sanity, and oriented me day to day in the direction I should be headed. Ten years ago I began posting GC, in order to share with friends, and in hopes of connecting with persons to pray with who also may feel the connection with God Calling. Over the years I have given dozen of copies of GC away..as with many things...you either HEAR it or you don't in this devotional. I am believing that there ARE others that hear what the two listeners received and shared...Peace Always Tamara Calderwood

I will endeavor to share more consistently and with a thought for being obedient to the urges and compelling nature of God in my life. Anyone interested in reading the Bible in the course of this year when you see the scripture it is merely the 3 chapters I read daily in order to complete the bible-in-a-year reading. I am this year on my 11
th go at reading the Bible consecutively. It gets better each year, in that Jesus can use it to teach me beyond just the surface understanding, to me- the world. I read an old testament chapter, a chapter from the middle Job or Psalms, then a new testament chapter. Reading 3-4 Chapters of the bible daily has you complete the Bible in the course of a year. The old and new testaments braid together versus antique or usable, stronger together and combined with praise is a powerful tool for change in seeking His Love. James 1:4-5 Let perseverance finish its work. I also will have reference to Walking in Grace from Guideposts, my Mom gave me in 2021-2022. God Bless this year, it is my prayer that what I share is like Hebrews 13:15 fruit of lips professing His Name, Jesus.

Mark 9:14-29
Jesus Heals a Boy Possessed by an Impure Spirit
14 WHEN they came to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them. 15 As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him.
16 “What are you arguing with them about?” he asked.
17 A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. 18 Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.”
19 “You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”
20 So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.
21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”
“From childhood,” he answered. 22 “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”
23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”
26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a co**se that many said, “He’s dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.
28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.”

When Faith Fails September 14, 2026
Lord, we believe, help Thou our unbelief.
Mark 11:24
THIS cry of the human heart is as expressive of human need as it was when uttered to Me while I was on earth. It expresses the soul's progress.
As a soul realizes Me and My Power, and knows Me as Helper and Savior, that soul believes in Me more and more. At the same time it is more conscious than before of its falling short of absolute trust in Me.
"Lord, I believe. Help Thou mine unbelief." The soul's progress--an increased belief--then a cry for more faith--a plea to conquer all unbelief, all lack of trust.
That cry heard. That prayer answered. More faith, and at the same time more power to see where trust is lacking.
My children seek to go up this path, leading by each stage, nearer to Me.
