👷🧰 Learn about the branch’s upcoming renovation at an open-to-the-public town hall meeting. Bostwick Design Partners will share the design plans, Development Director Mike Derr will discuss sponsorship opportunities, and staff will provide updates on programs and bookmobile services available during the closure. 👷 Ellet Branch Library will close at 5pm on Saturday, May 09 for repairs and remodeling.

Our 19 library buildings are aging. With an average building age of 24 years, all Akron-Summit County Public Library locations require significant repairs and updates to continue serving the community effectively.

These improvements are part of the Library's long‑term capital plan to modernize all 19 library buildings. Supported by the 2025 voter‑approved 1‑mill, 20‑year bond issue, this investment ensures our facilities remain safe, accessible, and ready to serve the community for decades to come.

During construction, limited programming will be offered offsite, and additional details will be shared as plans develop. Reopening is planned for Summer 2027.

🌱🌎Come join us as we learn about Earth and what makes it special with a special story, crafts, and other fun activities.

Participants can make wildflower seed bombs, add papier-mâché to a special bowl, join a scavenger hunt, and enjoy a story about caring for our planet.

🌸 Join us to create a beautiful glass lantern using simple materials, including real pressed flowers. All supplies are provided. Registration begins March 13.

😻🌈Join us on Wednesday, February 18 from 11:00am–12:00pm for a fun and engaging Gabby’s Dollhouse–themed storytime filled with songs, stories, rhymes, and movement to help build early literacy skills.

After storytime, Gabby herself will make a special appearance, and everyone who attends will be entered into a raffle for a four‑pack of tickets to the Gabby’s Dollhouse show at the Akron Civic Theatre later that day. Come enjoy the magic and make some wonderful memories. This event is perfect for families with young children, but all ages are welcome and celebrated.

Gabby's Dollhouse to tour Ohio, host Akron library storytime "Gabby’s Dollhouse Live" brings the Netflix hit to theaters with songs, puppets, and free library events celebrating imagination.

🏢Drop in for hands‑on, open‑ended STEAM and creative play designed for children ages 2–5 with a caregiver—though all ages are welcome and celebrated.

In Around Town, little explorers will embark on an exciting adventure as they visit a grocery store, library, restaurant, and more through imaginative play.

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, all Akron‑Summit County Public Library locations will be closed on Monday, January 19.

We encourage our community to take time to reflect, learn, and engage in the spirit of Dr. King's legacy.

We’ll reopen with normal hours on Tuesday.

Today's Baby Time program has been cancelled due to illness.

Although the structured program isn't happening, we will be setting out some toys and having an impromptu play time for anyone who like to join us at 10:30 am today.

🎨✨ Play Lab: The Artist Studio is coming to at the Ellet Branch Library on Saturday, January 10 from 10:00 am–12:00 pm! Designed for children ages 2–5 with a caregiver, but welcoming all ages, this special session invites families to step into a colorful world of creativity.

It’s a playful celebration of the arts through imaginative play, where every child can explore, create, and shine. 🌈🎶🖌️
