Stepping into the field: Accounting visits Akron Children’s Behavioral Health 🩺
Thank you to Director of Operations Nathan Booth and Controller Lisa Kinlow for bringing real-world perspective to our accounting team. During a recent tour of one of our current behavioral health projects - a 47,000-square-foot interior buildout of the fifth floor in the Kay Jewelers Pavilion - the team gained a deeper understanding of how the numbers come to life in the field.
Experiencing the job site firsthand helps the accounting team see what costs truly represent - labor, materials, equipment, and even delays. Rather than simply processing invoices, they can better connect expenses to actual progress and on-site challenges.
These visits also help bridge the communication gap between administrative teams and field staff, fostering stronger collaboration and a more unified understanding of each project. 💪

Building spaces that build futures.
Summit Construction was proud to serve as Construction Manager at-Risk for the Pickaway-Ross Construction Trades Lab Addition and Renovation - delivering a 60,000 square foot project designed to expand opportunities in career technical education.
From a new 18,000 square foot construction trades lab to renovations that modernized classrooms, labs, and building systems, every detail was focused on supporting hands-on, real-world learning.
Partnering with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, Pickaway-Ross CTC, and Schorr Architects, Inc., this project reflects what’s possible when collaboration and purpose align.
We are proud to have partnered on a project that invests in the future of skilled trades.

You never know which moment - a single day, a homework assignment, a conversation, or a lesson - will spark a young person's sense of direction. Career days offer a powerful chance to ignite that curiosity.
This year at Nordonia High School STEM Day, we challenged students to build the tallest structure they could in 60 seconds out of Magna Tiles. Each tile type was assigned a dollar value, and when students were done constructing, we added up the cost of their structure. If their structure could hold the weight of a 2 lb. box of screws, $20 would be taken off their total.
Our goal was to mimic the challenges the construction industry faces on a much smaller scale. The 60-second time allowance =⏱️ schedule. Deciding how many and which tiles to use, keeping in mind the cost =💲budget.
After reviewing their final structure, we listened to their thought process and showed them different ways they could have saved time or costs during their build, helping them think more efficiently.
Thank you to Nordonia High School for the always fun STEM day! We love interacting with students – witnessing their energy and enthusiasm for solving problems and thinking creatively.

A moment you don’t see every day. Summit Superintendent, Kiery Frye captured ironworkers sliding out along the final beam of the Buckeye Hills Innovation Center to make the last connection. 👏
For some, this level of bravery and precision is just part of the job.
We are proud to be serving as CMR for this state-of-the-art facility for the Buckeye Hills community.

The Akron Art Museum 1899 Building Renovation has reached an exciting milestone, with plywood and drywall now being installed across all three floors. This phase marks a major turning point in the construction process, as the building’s layout begins to truly take shape. Walls are rising, individual spaces are becoming defined, and the vision for how each floor will function is starting to come to life.
