An article on 4K material.
http://www.cnet.com/news/4k-content-guide-what-to-watch-in-4k-today/
In a nutshell, streaming 4K like Netflix looks better than their regular streaming but does not look better than 1080 Blu-ray discs. The Sony server for $700 which downloads 4K material instead of streaming it, is currently the only 4K source which looks better than Blu-ray discs.
4K content guide: What to watch in 4K today - CNET So you bought a new 4K TV and you're wondering what's on. The answer right now is: not much. But the list is growing. Here's a look at what you can watch now in 4K, and what's coming down the pike in the near future.

We will have the new Epson Laser Projector. If anyone wants a demo give us a call.
To 4K or not?
The 4K TVs sure look nice in the store but beware they are playing tricks on you. They are showing 4K clips, which there currently is very little 4K material you can get at home. Netflix and other services have 4K material but their quality is reduced to less than Blu-ray due to bandwidth limitations.
The only true 4k material comes from Sony's $500 server where you can rent or buy movies and they take hours to download so you can't watch them right away. Currently, the Sony server only works with Sony TVs but that will change soon. But, it will require a TV with HDCP 2.2 copy protection, so it won't work with all 4K TVs. If buying a 4K TV make sure it has HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 or you will be out of luck for 4K in the future.
The new 4K standard has other great features besides better resolution, like more vivid colors and faster frame rates for even more realistic images. Even better than the clips they are showing now in the stores or available on the Sony server. The new chips that have these other features won't be available in TVs or other equipment for at least 6 months. And all your equipment is going to need these new chips for these features, so you are going to need to upgrade more than just the TV.
So my recommendation is easy. WAIT! If you have questions on what to buy feel free to give us a call.
Last minute gift ideas if you are out shopping. Don't call us. It is too late for that.
Sony Blu-ray player BDP-S5200 about $50-$60. I like using Blu-ray players not only for playing Blurays, DVDs and CDs but it also can connect via Wi-fi and has streaming services such as Netflix, Vudu, YoutTube, etc.
Roku 3 $75 - A device for streaming services. I like this better than the Apple TV but if you are an Apple family you might prefer it.
Roku Stick $49 - I like this better than Chromecast and great if you are traveling. If you aren't going to travel spend the extra for the Roku 3.
Sony ZX headphones $15-$20 - For an inexpensive pair of headphones these are pretty good.
Yamaha YAS-203 Soundbar and subwoofer $399. Inexpensive and a step up from the super cheapies which are just that.
JVC Gumy or Gum plus ear buds $4 -$15 - Good for the money plus your not out much if you misplace them.

If you didn't read our blog on where to get the best bang for the buck. Here are some highlights.
Spend more on speakers than a receiver, probably 3 times more depending on budget.
A good screen makes a difference in picture quality. Don't skimp on a screen.
Cheap TVs tend to be just that.
A good universal remote will simplify your family's life. It is the one device you use every time you use your system, keep it simple.

Apparently you can't associate the name of this site when posting specials. So my last post got cut off and only a few of you got it. So you will see another post with the same specials with slightly different wording so everyone gets it. I am not trying to annoy the ones that got the first specials post.
