I take pictures as much as I can with the free time that I get. Always in the mood to shoot.

It is that time of year when the tulips are blooming all over Pella.

The word liminal comes to mind with this scene I experienced with this lighthouse in Two Harbors. It was a quiet day just me, this lighthouse, and the dense fog that has blanketed the North Shore. The second photo I was able to capture the sun directly above the lighthouse.

These weather conditions made the trip worth it. Dense foggy day along the North Shore made for interesting photos. Grand Marais lighthouse and it's quiet harbor.

Of course I had to make the obligatory stop to see the waterfalls

The arrival of the 1,004 foot long Edwin H Gott after it appears through the fog. Misty weather had me constantly trying to wipe my lens of the water. I will always prefer to see the ships sailing the great lakes in person rather then a computer screen.

On the weekend of April 11 & 12th I made the spontaneous decision to drive north to Duluth and the North Shore. I didn't let the incoming weather sway my decision as I don't mind shooting in dreary, foggy, rainy weather. The plan was to see the lakers arrive & depart the port and shoot the lighthouses along the shore again. Here you see the South Pier Lighthouse with the awaiting Hon James L Oberstar in the distance waiting her turn to enter port.

Mount Rushmore as seen through the Doane Robinson Tunnel. I'll eventually be back in the Black Hills.

Mount Rushmore is cool up close but I think seeing it from a distance might be better. Here you can see the faces lit up by the sun through a gap in the passing clouds.

Morning light hitting the rock formations on my hike to Cathedral Spires made it well worth it.

Morning light shines through the Needles Tunnel. This was the start of the last day of this trip.

This trip had the intention of taking photos of the Black Hills covered in snow. As you can see I did not time that right and that is fine with me. This photo here might be my favorite one of the day if not the whole trip. Sunset views from the Needles Highway.
