If they’re in their gear, I’m in my gear. If they’re getting reps, I’m also getting reps.

Don’t use “teaching” as a way to hide.

Do people follow you because of who you are… or because of the brass on your collar?

True respect comes from showing up for your people, taking care of those people, knowing your job, being accountable, and doing the right things when no one is watching.

Bugles give you authority. Your actions decide whether you get respect.

If you have to remind someone of that bugle, read the elephant in the room.

How you do anything is how you will do everything.

If you rush your morning rig check, you’ll rush a size-up.
If you skip reps during training, you’ll fumble when it’s time to perform.
If you half-clean tools and leave gear sloppy, don’t be surprised when something fails at the worst time.

The fireground doesn’t create bad habits. It reveals them.

The firefighter who cuts corners on fitness is the same one breathing hard on the stairs.
The one who treats training like a checkbox is the one confused when conditions change.
The one who says “good enough” in the station is the one who freezes when it’s not.

How you stretch hose in the bay is how you stretch it at 3 a.m.
How you communicate on drills is how you communicate under stress.
How you take care of your body, your gear, and your crew on slow days is exactly how you’ll show up when everything goes south.

This job isn’t just situational. It’s habitual.

Do the small things right when nobody’s watching,
or they’ll come to light when everyone is.
