TOLEDO, OH: Back on a cloudy day in a May, I took a crummy photo of this superb starling at the Toledo Zoo hoping I could turn it into beautiful piece of art like I was taught at Texas School. I hope I did that.

If I'm not painting at my desk, I'm painting on my iPad. It's a great way to relax and a lot less messy!

This was a cell phone photo. On a rainy May day in Toledo, Ohio, I walked through the aviary at the Toledo zoo kicking myself for not having a long lens on my camera. I took this shot of these beautiful birds with my phone and later painted it in Procreate. I was inspired by some of my Texas School instructors who were able to take ordinary images and turn them into extraordinary art. Maybe someday I'll make something wall worthy!
