I discovered this old quilt inside another an old quilt that was passed down to me from family. Apparently, when it got old it was recycled as the inside of a "new" quilt (now also very old). I'm assuming it's all the work of my great-great grandmother Adelaide LeBaron and about 120 years old.

The fabric was old and deteriorating but I wanted to use it rather than put it away, so I cropped it down, backed it with new materials, added the trim and ironed it with nice smelling spray starch. Now the banner hangs in my studio. Love it! Thank you Addie for your beautiful work! I appreciate the inspiration.

This post is about an old quilt which I uncovered from inside a second old quilt that had been handed down to me. Originally created by Adelaide, Addie, LeBaron, a great-great-grandmother on my father's mother's side of the family. Now it hangs in my studio.

This has to be more than 100 years old, as Addie died in 1920. The fabric is faded and deteriorating. All the stitches are made by hand. I've backed it with new materials and have sewn the binding. Now only 36" wide the cropped quilt really brings out the complex hexagon pattern. It's amazing. Thank you Addie for your beautiful artwork!

Thanks to all the people who stopped by my booth at Ramble Fest yesterday!!! I appreciated seeing friends from North Adams days and new Adams folk. Sales were good. The weather was cool and lovely. Meeting people is always the best part of retail. This morning I’m dog tired, but am grateful for the experience. Thanks again! 🍁🍁😊

What better a place to photography a new quilt than hanging on a clothes line in your own back yard? Presenting my new "Dandelions" quilt!!! TaDa! Size 52" x 61". It's bright and happy. I sewed it from my "Woodlands Collection" fabrics: 2 yds "Dandelion Damask", 1 yd "Dandelions in the Grass" and 1 yd "Grass". These fabrics are available to order on Spoonflower.
