Supported by a Crossroads grant from the New England Foundation for the Arts New England Foundation for the Arts, The Adams Theater presents Sasha Velour’s “Travesty” as a part of the Summer at the ‘62 Center series at Williams College on Saturday, August 29, at 7:30 P.M.

“Travesty” traces the secret q***r history of a single spot throughout time: A witch burns in a field; a clown builds a theater; an underground gay bar rises up against the police. Through a series of jaw-dropping lip-sync performances, Velour transforms into a cast of unforgettable charismatic characters, inviting audiences into a cycle of existence, resistance, and camp that IS drag. Part performance art, part history, and part call to action, “Travesty”will have you screaming at the top of your lungs, dancing in the aisles, and inspired to change the world.

Very nice article from the Eagle today - "When you're driving on Route 8 at 45 miles per hour, you can't stop and take a look at something — here at the Adams Theater, you'll be able to stay in front of a picture for 15 minutes to determine what you've missed seeing driving past it." See you at our Opening Reception between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 28th!

We are sharing some images of the photo exhibition in the Adams Theater lobby, offering a striking look at the monumental architecture and 175-year legacy of our industrial landscape.

Captured by fine art photographer Thaddeus B. Kubis , these photographs document the massive scale and structural detail of the Specialty Minerals Inc’s site — elements of our shared environment that define the town’s skyline but are rarely seen from this vantage point.

Join us for a Public Reception to celebrate the exhibition and the history it represents.

Reception Details:

Date: Thursday, May 28

Time: 5:30 PM

Highlights: Live music and Social Hour at our new lobby bar.

The exhibition is on view through September 5. You can also make an appointment to come see them by contacting us at [email protected]

You spoke, and we listened. Through our audience survey, we heard a clear desire for more comfortable seating. While a full upgrade of 300+ seats will take time, we’ve taken the first step by acquiring 30 Hercules Series stackable auditorium seats, thanks in part to guidance from theater design consultant, our friend from Images Cinema: .

We’ll be launching a comprehensive chair campaign for the 2027 season, but in the meantime, we introduced a mini campaign — TAKE A SEAT IN OUR FUTURE — at ticket checkout. The response so far has been tremendous — almost half of ticket buyers chip in $1 to $10 to help us acquire more chairs!

Please continue to help us make the Adams Theater accessible, comfortable, and flexible! Thank you!
