Big thanks to owners Patrick and Nick from Hexagon Bagels for composting with Second Chance Composting! We've known them since they started at the North Adams Farmers Market not long after we did and it's been amazing to see their business grow and thrive.

I remember that first year they were at the market, maybe their first or second week and they had already sold out within the first hour or so. They've never looked back and it's exciting to see their vision come to fruition with their brick-and-mortar location on Main St in North Adams. Just after settling into their location, they reached out to make sure they were putting their food waste to good use by composting with us.

I always appreciate their perspective on being local entrepreneurs and respect their success. They are always present in the community, work hard, and make amazing bagels. Go check them out if you haven't had a chance, you can't get a bagel like this anywhere else.

Thanks again and to your continued success!

Check out this tip of mostly frozen food scraps. We've had so many frozen totes (known as totesicles/foodsicles) this winter.

Food scraps don’t belong in the trash—they waste resources and create pollution.

At Second Chance Composting, we can take what is being wasted and instead turn it into a local resource (compost) for local gardeners and farmers.

It’s simple, affordable and easy to do your part.

Memberships start at $9.99/month with an annual fee.

Sign up by visiting www.secondchancecomposting.com

You get unlimited drop offs of food scraps (including meat, fish, dairy, bones) to 1 of our 10 locations throughout the Berkshires.
Save your food scraps at home and drop them off whenever it is convenient for you. Come as little as or as often as you need and bring an unlimited amount per month!

It’s that simple.

We take care of the rest, processing it into nutrient rich compost for local soils.

Thanks!

Second Chance Composting wants to thank Matt Tassone of Berkshire Post and Beam for going out of his way to supply sawdust to us.

Matt started his company after taking a high school timber framing class and turned that experience into a real business the very next summer.

What began as hands-on learning quickly grew into a full-scale operation, leading him to decline college and commit fully to the craft.

Berkshire Post and Beam specializes in traditional timber framing—timeless design, proven construction methods, and sustainable building practices. With growing demand for durable, beautiful, and environmentally responsible structures, timber framing represents both a heritage trade and a massive modern market.

Matt has been extremely mindful of keeping his sawdust clean and contaminate free so we can be sure at Second Chance Composting we are maintaining rigorous standards and consistently delivering excellence. Thanks for going out of your way to work together to put a would-be waste product to great use as a local resource!

Reach out to Matt from Berkshire Post and Beam at [email protected] or via phone at 413-652-2044 for more information on his business.

Anyone in need of some food scrap juice ice?

Put it in your diet coke, add it to your lemonade.

All sizes available. Perfect for your next camping trip.

It's been extremely cold here in The Berkshires and we are trying to make the most fun we can of the freezing temperatures.

Happy composting!
