From the desk of Father Tom:

As you read this article, myself and my staff are most likely consumed with all things concerning our Parish Festival. Hosting a three day festival is an incredible undertaking. We begin working on the festival right after the last festival is complete. We met to have an AAR (After Action Review). The objective of the AAR is “to conduct an impartial review that focuses on systemic performance rather than individual competence. Unlike a general project post-mortem, the AAR is a forward-looking tool designed to inform the next iteration of a similar action immediately.” The leadership team discusses what went well, what went poorly, and what we should consider for the next year. Let me say ahead of time thank you to my staff, Auction team, Johnny’s Run team, and the other team leaders who have been working for months behind the scenes on this year's festival. We are so blessed to be able to sponsor such an amazing event that honors our parish tradition, culture for hospitality, and provides the greater community the chance to come together and celebrate summer.

My Father’s Day was beautiful. Thank you for all the “Happy Father’s Day” wishes. This is one day that I get to double-dip, and I am so blessed to be able to experience being a Dad and the Father to this parish community. I hope all of you Fathers know how important you are in the spiritual development of your families. There are so many studies that confirm the leadership of an engaged Father is vital in the transmission of faith and morals to their children. It is imperative Fathers help to raise the next generation of men so we can safeguard our Christian culture. I encourage you dads to examine some of the research and check on the many books out there which speaks to this dynamic. I will recommend two books that I have personally read. Wild at Heart by John Eldredge and Boys Adrift by Dr. Leonard Sax.

I will be heading up North after the 4th of July weekend for some rest. I have discovered a perfect place to rest, pray, read, and exercise my brain. I am very grateful for the opportunity to be away and recharge. Let us continue to pray for one another. Oremus pro invicem.
