It's important to remember that the symptoms of ear, nose and throat disorders can often overlap.
Facial pain, headaches, congestion or difficulty hearing can often be signs of a related condition. Call our experts to schedule an appointment if you experience any of these symptoms!

Even with treatment, nasal polyps (sinus tissue growths) can return. Research suggests recurrence in two-thirds of people within 10 years of treatment.
Pay attention to symptoms like frequent sneezing/runny nose, fullness in the nose, or nasal blockage, especially if they last more than 10 days. Dry air can also irritate your nose, so a humidifier may help, and nasal saline spray can help keep things clear. If your symptoms creep back up, schedule a visit with our ENT specialists so we can help!

Decongestant nasal sprays can provide quick relief, but they’re meant for short-term use (typically no more than three consecutive days). Using them longer can lead to diminished effectiveness, dependency and rebound swelling, which can cause more congestion.
To taper off, one approach is to use the spray only in one nostril for the first week, then stop. You should see an ENT specialist if tapering attempts aren’t working or you’re concerned about your symptoms.

Sinus troubles aren’t one-size-fits-all. Sinusitis can be acute (lasting four weeks or less) or chronic (persisting longer than 12 weeks). Treatment options can include home remedies, over the counter or prescription drugs and surgery, depending on severity and duration.
If you suffer from recurring symptoms, don’t wait it out. An ENT specialist can help you build a plan that matches what you’re experiencing.

Spring can be busy with travel, events and a lot of talking. If you’re dealing with hoarseness, laryngitis may be the cause. Laryngitis is swelling and irritation of the larynx (voice box) and can cause hoarseness or even voice loss. It can be acute or chronic, but it’s usually the result of a temporary viral infection or vocal strain and often clears up quickly. If voice changes linger or worry you, an ENT specialist can help you get answers.

If you experience chronic nasal congestion or a stuffy nose, there’s a better, quicker way to find relief: balloon sinuplasty takes as little as 30 minutes and has a low risk of side effects.

Wondering if a sinus infection requires antibiotics? Many sinus infections are caused by a virus, which means antibiotics may not help.
Guidelines suggest checking your symptom pattern. If you’ve been sick fewer than 10 days and symptoms aren’t getting worse, it’s likely viral. If symptoms worsen over 10 days or improve and then go downhill, it’s more likely bacterial and may need antibiotics.
If you’re not sure where you fall, an ENT visit can help you get the right treatment.
