Here’s a deck and screen porch we wrapped up recently in Alpharetta, along with a few before photos. It features Trex Select decking in Whiskey Barrel with aluminum TimberTech Impression Express railing.

Behind the scenes, this one had a few challenges. We used an engineer for both the deck and the roof to work through some structural issues. The home’s existing cantilevers wouldn’t carry the added load of the deck and roof, and we also had to work around some footing conflicts. Nothing insurmountable, just required some extra planning and coordination.

In the end, everything came together nicely and the homeowner is very happy with the result.

Here’s a recently completed pavilion in Marietta that features a cedar timber framed structure with exposed pine 2x6 T&G roof decking. Completed with a standing seam metal roof, the pavilion sits on a new stamped concrete patio slab. Happy grilling!

If you have a tolerance for the natural tendencies of budget friendly pressure treated pine, it can be a viable choice if synthetic decking is more than your pocketbook can manage. While we recommend composites like Trex Decking, we realize that is not always in the cards for every project. With proper care and regular maintenance, or even protection from a porch roof like you see here, you can still have a beautiful deck.

Here’s a deck and cedar porch we built for one of our long time builder customers. They have been a great trade partner for many years.

Here is a simple design community pavilion built for a builder customer. We utilized Simpson Strong-Tie cast in place post bases that provide moment resistance and eliminate the need for additional lateral bracing.

Recently finished deck for a builder customer near Lake Lanier. Covered deck with fireplace, decking (Coastal Bluff color). The limited budget lead them to choose a pocketbook friendly wood rail with black round balusters.

Deck and screen porch completed recently in Woodstock. We met with the customer today and they are still thrilled with the results! This one is primarily PT material with a few upgrades such as metal balusters and some Hardie wrapped posts on the porch. But it still has some good appeal. Of course no one complains about an outdoor fireplace.

This new deck, roof, and screen porch was our most involved project of 2023. We worked on the deck alongside a pool company while they installed the pool and landscaping. This deck has engineered beams for the wide spans below, cedar timber posts, Lineage decking and fascia, and Fortress aluminum rails. The roof is complete with exposed tongue & groove with cedar rafters and beams. We installed a TV wall and plenty of outlets. We even install two permanent gas heaters. Below the deck is an underdeck system to give them a dry space and finished ceiling. Due to existing windows on the house, it was tricky to get this shallow roof to fit without major modifications, but we made it work and the homeowners are happy.

Great shot of some front porches built for a builder customer. We used PVC box columns and heavy cedar timber columns with corbels and brackets. We finished them off with Fortress AL13 plus aluminum rails on the porches and steps.

We have had lots of things to commemorate since starting back in 1994 and lots of great times. Here’s a glimpse into a moment 20 years ago with Steve, Craig, and Barbie. For fun, they recreated the photo this week, 20 years later!
