Today we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Memorial Day is more than the start of summer — it is a day of gratitude for those who gave everything so that we may enjoy the freedoms we cherish every day.

We also remember the countless military working animals who served alongside them with unwavering loyalty and courage. From war horses and messenger pigeons to military dogs serving beside our troops today, their devotion and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

From all of us at Bells Ferry Veterinary Hospital, we extend our deepest gratitude to the heroes we remember today and to the families who carry their legacy forward.

May we take a moment today to reflect, honor, and remember.

Our lobby is a little quieter and little emptier today. Our finch, Gomez, has passed at the ripe ‘ol age of 7! He’s the longest living finch we’ve ever had. He spent the last half of his life as a bachelor, after Morticia’s passing and a few of our other finches passed. People would always ask if we were going to get him a friend but to be honest, he was so much happier and more active when he was by himself. In the end, he was a happy senior citizen that was healthy right up until the end. We’ll certainly miss his singing and whistling.
