A quarter century may have passed but we have not forgotten. 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years ago, we were supposed to be celebrating the 1 year anniversary of our new building (9/11/2000), but what we did instead was huddle together around the television in the lobby, trying to understand what we were seeing as the news unfolded. Like so many people, we watched in shock, worry, and disbelief. Five of us are still part of the BFVH family.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives, along with the firefighters, police officers, first responders, military, and ordinary Americans who ran toward danger to help others.

As a veterinary hospital, we cannot forget the search-and-rescue dogs who served at Ground Zero and the Pentagon alongside their handlers. They were part of the incredible recovery effort for months following the attack.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember where we were, who we were with, and how that day changed our country. Today, we pause together to honor the lives lost, the courage shown, and the many sacrifices that followed.

‼️UPDATE‼️**This osprey was recently released by the Chattahoochee Nature Center back to Lake Allatoona! When you’re on the lake this weekend, look for this special lady!! We couldn’t be happier, thank you to everyone that made this possible! See the comments for release video!!

She was so covered in mud, she barely looked like a bird 🪶

After medical workers Nicole and Ashley spotted an osprey trapped in deep mud behind their Georgia clinic, they used pieces of plexiglass to reach her and eventually got her to Bells Ferry Veterinary Hospital for treatment. She's now recovering with Chattahoochee Nature Center Wildlife Rehabilitation, where caregivers are helping her regain her strength before she can hopefully return to the wild.

As we continue to welcome new clients and their pets as owners discover THEIR vet hospital has been sold to corporate (or was secretly sold some time ago!), we wanted to share a great synopsis of what vet med is going through right now (note: BFVH is not political in any way; this issue transcends all politics).

What can you do right now? Continue to support small businesses, especially privately owned veterinary hospitals. Just a simple phone call to your vet, asking the simple question, "Are you privately owned?" can tell you a lot. If they are, that answer will always be a clear and concise yes! If there's lots of explanation or an "I'm not sure" we encourage all pet owners to dig deeper!
