Go on a StoryWalk® through our campus to read "Juneteenth for Mazie" by Floyd Cooper from June 17 through June 23. "Juneteenth for Mazie" is a story about a young girl learning to celebrate Juneteenth. Follow the trail of pages to see how Mazie remembers the struggle and triumph of her ancestors and prepares to celebrate Juneteenth!
Juneteenth is a national holiday celebrated each year on June 19th to mark the day when news of the end of slavery reached Galveston, Texas, ensuring the last enslaved people in the United States were freed—a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Join us Tuesday, June 16 between 10:30am and 12pm for Backyard and Beyond: Working in the Garden.Learn what plants need to grow and help us take care of the Discovery Woods Garden. We will water our plants, check for weeds, and see if any plants are ready to be picked. Be on the lookout for insects that help our plants to grow! Inclement weather may result in changes to this program, or cancellation.

Ready to meet some caterpillars?? Our friends from the The Caterpillar Lab are returning to Discovery Museum this week! See a variety of New England caterpillar species showcased on open-air displays of local plants. Get up close to enormous giant silk moth caterpillars, fierce-looking snake-mimicking caterpillars, convincing twig-mimicking caterpillars, and bubbly butterfly caterpillars. Witness rare moments of metamorphosis and watch ecological relationships play out first-hand under a digital microscope. Be sure to chat with the educators from The Caterpillar Lab—you're sure to discover something new!
