Another undated image from the original 3” x 5” film negative I recently received. It shows Washington Street in front of the Old North Church. The truck in the background is turning onto Pearl Street. The first house on the left has an “Antiques” sign on it. (from the Charlie Maurais Collection)

This undated image is from the original 3” x 5” film negative I recently received. On the left is The Stowaway guest house at 66a Front Street, then the Nautilus, and also a Gift Shop. The Marblehead Antique Exchange is on the corner of State and Front Streets. On the near right is another Guest House, then The Bide A Wee Restaurant (where the Driftwood is today at 63 Front Street). The Bide A Wee started as a tea room and by the 1930s was also serving lunch and dinner. In 1953 the Bide A Wee moved to 146 Washington Street. (from the Charlie Maurais Collection)

Undated photo of a man in his carriage, in front of the National Grand Bank on Hooper Street. Note the gas lamp post in front of the bank. Across the street was the Marblehead Savings Bank, and there were 2 banks in the Lee Mansion. Explaining why the intersection of Hooper and Washington Streets is known as “Bank Square”. My favorite 6.5” x 8.5” glass negative in the batch I just received. This Pleasant Street view shows the railroad depot (where National Grand Bank is today) and many other interesting sites. To the right, behind the depot, was a shoe factory and the brick G. L. Metcalf Box (Factory) on Sewall Street. (you can read the sign on the Metcalf building). Rosalies was later in this building. Down in front of the Warwick Theater is an electric trolley car. A couple of old cars are also visible. No date on this negative, but it could be late teens or early 1920s. This 6.5” x 8.5” glass negative shows a scene that has not changed much, since the photo was taken over 100 years ago. This is the section of Old Burial Hill where my 9th great-grandfather, John Stacey, and his wife, Agnes Pedrick, are buried. John was born in 1646, Agnes circa 1655. This is an old glass negative of Abbot Hall, that I just received. There is no date but Washington Street is still a dirt road and it looks like all of the tire tracks are from horse carts and not cars. I zoomed in and spotted a horse drawn, ice cream wagon parked in front of the building. (from the Charlie Maurais Collection)

I have this 1899, James J. H. Gregory and Son seed catalogue. It has 75 pages and inside is an order form and envelope. The business was on Back Street (now called Elm St) between Mugford Street and the Gerry School playground. Across the street was the “Squash House” (from the Charlie Maurais Collection)

The Glover Inn at 86 Front Street was an Inn and Restaurant that opened circa 1913. The sign in the window says “Restaurant Open For Business”. There is also a small “ICE” sign with the Porter Ice Company name on it. Probably displayed so the delivery wagon would stop and deliver ice to them. The building was purchased by E Selman Graves and moved across the street in 1936. It was moved and turned sideways by Frank Goodwin and crew and set on a new foundation at the water’s edge, where it still sits today. I scanned this from the original 6.5” x 8.5” glass negative from the Charlie Maurais Collection. Also, see the map and current location photo in comments
