Headquartered at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, the CECOM Army Software & Innovation Center (ASIC) is one of the most experienced and comprehensive software support centers within the Department of War (DoW). ASIC provides much of the software expertise needed to support command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, as well as logistics, business, and enterprise systems in the modern digital environment.

The C5ISR Hall of Fame is an elite honors program dedicated to recognizing and memorializing former Soldiers and Department of the Army Civilians who have made significant, enduring contributions to the Army’s technological readiness. Recently, former Acting Director Stephen F. Kovacs was inducted for his outstanding achievements supporting the CECOM Software Engineering Center.

Recently at Fort Carson, the CECOM Army Software & Innovation Center helped power Operation Jailbreak by delivering a prototype Application Programming Interface Marketplace. Designed to solve critical battlefield Command and Control challenges, this platform enables seamless collaboration with partners to eliminate proprietary hurdles, advance Modular Open Systems Approach standards, and build a fully interoperable defense ecosystem.

Earlier this week, CECOM ASIC hosted the Summer 2026 System Security Engineering (SSE) Forum at the Mallette Training Facility in Aberdeen Proving Ground. Executive Director Garrett Shoemaker kicked off the event with a roadmap of CECOM ASIC’s transformative strategy for Army software and cybersecurity, following a welcome from Gene Thompson. The multi-day forum also featured critical technical sessions on AI and threat analysis from Dr. Foteini Argiropoulos and Jake Burrows.
