𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝟏.𝟎

𝑰𝒏 2014, a small idea was born, a WhatsApp group that brought together sons and daughters of Nyondo and its surrounding areas. That idea grew into something bigger, and today, Baana Bengo is a vibrant community that has stood strong for 11 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔.

The roots of our digital presence, however, go back even further. 𝑰𝒏 2012 one of our senior members, who now serves as the current Chairman of Baana Bengo, created the page “𝑵𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒐 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒔.” years later, in 2014, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒔𝑨𝒑𝒑 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒑 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒅,further connecting the community. Then, in 2016, the page was renamed “𝗡𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼-𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗼” to bring together all people, young and old, who hail from Nyondo, or who have once lived or studied there. The group later adopted its official logo in 2017. Today, the page is a vibrant hub with over 2,500 𝒇𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒔 sharing memories, stories, and updates from our beloved home. Over time, the community also expanded its presence to Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp Channels, connecting even more people with the spirit of Nyondo.

One of the most cherished traditions that binds us together is the 𝘽𝙖𝙖𝙣𝙖 𝘽𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙤 𝙁𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙡, held every year on 𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐍𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐨 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬. The festival is more than just an event, it is a celebration of identity, belonging, and togetherness. From morning until late in the night, the day is filled with:

Last year’s celebration was nothing short of memorable, and as we prepare for the upcoming 𝘽𝙖𝙖𝙣𝙖 𝘽𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙤 @11 𝙁𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙡, the excitement is even greater. This year will mark 11 years since our founding, a true milestone worth honoring.

In the coming weeks, we will share more articles highlighting each of the games, the people, and the activities that make this festival special. Our story is not just about events, but about the people who make them possible, the founders, leaders, and every member who has carried the Baana Bengo spirit forward.

This mountain isn’t just a view, it’s a memory, a story, and a reminder of the roots that bind us together. Whether you were born here, studied here, or passed through Nyondo, you carry a piece of this beauty with you. 💚

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of the mother of Madam Mutuwa Zaina, our Vice Chairperson at Baana Bengo.

We send our deepest sympathies to Madam Zaina and her family. May they find comfort and strength in this difficult time, and may her mother’s soul rest in peace.

⚽ Our very own Uganda Cranes bounced back dramatically to hold South Africa 🇿🇦 in a thrilling 3-3 draw at CHAN, true spirit, true fight!

This is more than just a location, it's a reminder of what legacy means when it’s built with pride, love, and purpose. From the roots of the late 𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐢 to the generations pushing forward, this is Nyondo to the World 🌍
